Access to HE Information Event
 This one off information session is designed for anyone interested in pursuing Access to HE and ultimately a course at university. Discover how our year-long diploma translates into UCAS points and prepares you for degree-level study.
Learn Telford currently offers three Access to HE courses in Psychology, Health Science Professionals and Education. Come and learn about what these pathways can lead to and the student finance options available.
Access to HE Diplomas enable adults without traditional qualifications to progress to university. If you don't have level 3 qualifications but want to go to university for personal or career based goals, Access to HE could be your stepping stone for studying a degree.

Massage for Health
|

This FREE course will give you the chance to explore a range of massage skills used within the wellness industry. The sessions will allow you to learn practical techniques, for which a degree of manual dexterity is required, and practice on yourself or peers as appropriate.

What are functional skills?
Functional Skills maths and English courses are designed to help adults develop and demonstrate skills needed for everyday life and work. As an alternative to GCSEs, they can also support people to gain access to further and higher education.
Who are these courses for?
If you’re aged 19 and over and don’t have maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), you can access our free functional skills courses, build your confidence with numbers and gain a qualification.
Teaching
Learn Telford offers online & face to face teaching at community venues across Telford.
Cost
Functional Skills courses are fully funded.

- You will be tested in this session so that we can offer you a place on the right level of English course for September 2024.
- Learners must be aged 19 years and above.

Level 1 Award In Mentoring Skills
|
|

This accredited course is intended as a first step for people who want to volunteer or are interested to work as a Mentor. The course will offer you an opportunity to gain a Level 1 Award in Mentoring Skills for Working with Young People (AIM Qualification).

This provision works within local schools and nurseries to offer a unique opportunity for adults to come into their child’s school and work alongside their child. Our courses are free, fun, stimulating and designed to help both parents and children grow their love of learning. Family Learning is currently available in many schools across the local borough and we are always looking to work with more schools.

We can offer you a range of support to help you make an informed choice about learning, training or employment needs. The service holds the Matrix standard to ensure that we provide high quality advice and guidance.
Our staff team based in local communities can provide you with a wide range of advice on learning and employment opportunities that are local to you as well as support with job search, CV writing, interview skills and much more.

The Jobbox service is currently offering a drop-In service from the ground floor of Southwater library from 10am – 5pm Monday – Friday. If you are 19+, you can call in and speak to a trained officer who can support with advice and guidance to help you move into employment, training or courses. We can also offer more intensive support for those customers with additional barriers such as a health conditions or disability who want to move into paid employment. We can provide customers 1-1 support to progress into paid employment helping to gain working interviews and work trials.

English Café
The University of Wolverhampton's English Café is running every Wednesday, 10am-12pm (school term time only) at Telford Campus, Priorslee. This session is designed to respond to the English learning needs of the community. Topics include practical, everyday English and a focus on grammar in context. It's taught by a University English as a Foreign language Tutor & supported by volunteers.

Interested in Becoming a Childminder? |
Telford and Wrekin Council offers briefing sessions to people wishing to become childminders and support them through the registration process. This involves completing home safety checks, advice on relevant training for example: first aid for children, and safeguarding. They hold briefing sessions a year and each session lasts approximate 2.5 hours.
