On Tuesday next week (25 July), our 'Kids for £1' school holiday activity programme kicks off.
Thousands of families in Telford and Wrekin use the one pound sessions every school holiday, so we know what a huge help they are. The six-week holidays can be expensive time and we want to do all that we can to help.
Families can also find additional leisure offers and discounts in and around Southwater and the town park too.
Tuesday this week (18 July) saw the announcement that a record six of Telford and Wrekin’s parks and green spaces have been awarded a prestigious ‘Green Flag’.
Read the full story below to find out which two local sites picked up a Green Flag for the first time this year.
We are proud to share that over half of Telford and Wrekin primary schools have embraced a trauma-informed approach!
As part of our 100 Day Plan, we are committed to supporting schools across the borough in understanding the impact of difficult experiences on children and young people
This approach, called trauma-informed, focuses on providing additional support for social and emotional needs, ensuring that every child in our borough feels safe, secure and cared for.
Starting next week...
FREE Urban Games for kids 8+ are available through the summer holidays. Try Shropshire Cricket, Telford Bike Hub, Telford Netball, Bright Star Boxing, AFC Telford United multisport, hockey or BMX. There’s something for everyone!
For more info including session times, dates and locations, visit the website below.
Urban Games sessions are free – funded through our Safer & Stronger Communities programme.
To help with the cost of living, we made a promise as part of our 100 Day Plan to support children who would normally receive free school meals with vouchers so they can eat well over the summer holidays.
Over the six-week break we’re providing £10 per week, per child, equalling £60 per child over the summer holidays, and will be supporting 10,768 local children who would usually qualify for free school meals.
This summer, treat the family to a trip to the “coolest place” in town!
Skate with the family for the special price of £25 for a family ticket at Telford Ice Rink.
We have another summer treat for you too: come and skate at our new Tuesday evening sessions, each week until 8 August between 6pm – 8pm. #gettogetherTuesday

This week Cllr Carolyn Healy was joined by bereaved residents to unveil an eight foot sculpture, created as a centre-piece for the borough’s new Covid memorial garden.
The sculpture’s creator, Joseph Hillier, drew inspiration from conversations with Telford and Wrekin residents impacted by the Covid pandemic.

More and more local businesses are reducing single-use plastics and joining our campaign to make Telford and Wrekin one of the UK’s first plastic free boroughs.

A taxi driver has been fined and had his license put under review, after caught picking up fares without a booking and invalid insurance, in an undercover operation by Telford & Wrekin Council.
We know most licensed drivers operate legitimately, but there are those who think they can make extra money by ignoring the rules. This case shows we’re determined to keep cracking down on drivers who break the law and potentially put passengers at risk.
