Help for victims of financial scams in the Borough

Telford and Wrekin Trading Standards are working to support residents who may be a victim of financial scams.

Financial scams come in all shapes and sizes, but they are all forms of financial abuse.

Examples are

  • You have won a prize, but you must send money to claim it
  • You are offered goods/ services that don’t exist
  • Someone says they are in a troubled situation and ask you for money.

The scams leave victims out of pocket, feeling vulnerable and often subject to social isolation.

Many people do not want to admit they have been a victim so they hide it from family and friends. We want to help residents protect themselves and stop the cycle of financial abuse they may be suffering from.

Don't delay, no queues - get boosted within minutes!

We know it's almost Christmas Eve and you are already getting in the Christmas spirit!

But please, if you haven't done so already, make sure you get boosted. Two doses are not enough to offer you protection against Omicron.

The vaccination team are hard at work, vaccinating right up to Christmas Eve and again from Boxing Day.

If you are aged 18 and over and had your second dose 3 months (91 days) ago, get boosted this festive season. It is still not too late to get your first or second vaccine doses.

Find a local walk-in clinic (no appointment needed)  OR

Or book a vaccination online

There are clinics open even on Christmas Eve - Friday, 24 December, such as Woodside Pharmacy, 8am-1pm and Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council building in Wellington, 9am-2pm.

Test and trace service continues

Test and trace christmas

NHS Test and Trace services will continue every day over Christmas and the New Year, providing and processing tests for those who need them and tracing contacts of positive cases.

All test sites will remain open, with booking slots available on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
