She’s one of our Healthy Lifestyles Advisors working in the Wellington, Arleston and Admaston area.
Tink is a running enthusiast and enjoys motivating and encouraging her clients to be more active.
One of Tina’s client’s told us:
"I wanted to say a big thank you for your support. I have gone from no exercise to ensuring I exercise every day, including brisk walking. I didn't drink much, but I barely drink at all now, maybe once a month and then only 2 drinks maximum. My Diabetes has improved, largely from your advice on when is best to eat carbs, no late night toast now and no snacking. I feel better and think I look better. I have gone down a dress size. My knee pain has gone completely too. So, an improved and improving picture. Hopefully with my move will come even better health and a range of opportunities for exercise. So, thank you Tina, from the bottom of my heart."

The Lingden Davies Cancer Fund works to reduce the impact of cancer on people’s lives, sharing accessible information and advice about reducing the risk of developing cancer and taking action to spot the early signs of cancer.
Their “LiveLife” campaign is a free health promotion initiative aiming to reach as many people as possible throughout Shropshire, Telford and Mid-Wales.
“LiveLife” aims to raise awareness and encourage people to take action, increasing understanding of the early signs and symptoms of cancer and encouraging uptake of screening programmes.
The key themes of “LiveLife” are:
- Early detection of cancer: increase people’s awareness of early signs and symptoms e.g. breast, prostrate, bowel, ovarian and skin cancers.
- Promoting the uptake of cancer screening e.g. bowel, breast, cervical cancers, linking with national cancer awareness initiatives.
- Reducing lifestyle-related risks of cancer: tobacco smoking, physical inactivity, obesity and unhealthy diet and skin cancer & sun safety.
The campaign’s focus is on increasing awareness of cancer signs and symptoms and reporting concerns to a health professional when appropriate, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ways to Wellbeing in the workplace
Supporting the health & wellbeing of the staff, colleagues, volunteers and clients within the organisations we belong to is vitally important.
The people within an organisation are its most vital asset, and everyone should have the opportunity to feel good, to be happy, healthy and well.
By giving some of our time to talk with others about the Five Ways to Wellbeing, we can all do more to support everyone’s mental health and wellbeing – including our own - through five easy ways, helping us all to enjoy life more and feel better.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing are: ‘Give to others’, ‘Connect with others’, ‘Keep learning’, ‘Take notice of your surroundings’ and ‘Be Active’.
Today we’re going to focus on what “Giving to others” might look like within an organisation or workplace.
Giving doesn’t necessarily mean donating goods or money: it can just mean giving a little bit of your time to others, which can make a huge difference.
So from just taking the time to say ‘Good morning’ each day, to enabling staff and colleagues to volunteer their time to a local charity – it all counts.
Perhaps as a workforce you can organise collecting items for your local foodbank?
Or offer your time as a whole organisation or team to do a shift at your local community garden or orchard?
You could encourage your colleagues or staff to ask their work/team mates how they are and really listen to their answer.
Individuals who have a greater interest in helping others are more likely to rate themselves as happy, and it’s the same for organisations also.
Giving to others creates a sense of reward, a feeling of purpose and self-worth, creating a better atmosphere and sense of belonging within work/volunteer roles too.
Better mental health support in the workplace
A recent survey by St John’s Ambulance revealed that 40% of people have considered leaving their job due to mental health issues, and 1 out of 4 people feel their work is contributing negatively to their wellbeing.
Clearly, this shows the need for improved awareness of mental health issues at work.
What’s your knowledge of issues around mental health in the workplace?
There are also free resources to support the good mental health practices in your workplace, and details of Mental Health First Aid qualifications that focus on practical training and real-life scenarios and set a new standard in workplace mental health training.
