Coronavirus update from
Telford and Wrekin Council
26 April 2021
UK Covid-19 variant identified in Telford and Wrekin
Some cases of a mutation of the UK Covid-19 variant have been identified in a small cluster of cases in Hadley & Leegomery. Public Health England has advised that there is no evidence this causes more serious illness - however, we need your help in monitoring this variant and stop it spreading further. The following are now being asked to take a PCR Covid-19 test, even if they are not showing symptoms:
- Families with school aged children in Hadley and Leegomery
- Their extended families, friends, support bubbles
- All other residents in Hadley & Leegomery
To have a PCR test: - Go to Telford Cultural and Leisure Centre (40 High Street, Hadley, TF1 5NG) open 11am - 6pm during weekdays. No appointments needed, just turn up. Please be aware that queues may be possible so plan ahead.
or
- Book an appointment at other PCR testing sites across the borough.
When completing the booking form, in the section "Why are you getting tested?", please select the following option: "My local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone I live with) to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms."
Thank you for helping to keep each other safe!
