Coronavirus update from

Telford & Wrekin Council

6 January 2021

Get tested

Staying at home is the most important thing we can do to fight the virus during this lockdown.

Another important thing we can do is to get tested. Getting tested is one of the reasons you can leave home during this lockdown.

You may be familiar with a lot of this information in this email already but we just wanted to reiterate your options for getting tested, including when and how to do it.

If you have symptoms

You should self-isolate immediately and book a test if you have any of the three main coronavirus symptoms:

  • A temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A change or loss in sense of taste or smell

If you have any other symptoms, get a test as a precaution.

Get a Coronavirus test if you have any of these 'precautionary' symptoms:

  • Headaches
  • Aches and pains
  • Feeling very tired for no good reason
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Tummy ache in children

When booking, make sure you answer the question 'Why are you asking for a test?' with 'My local council or health protection team has asked me (or someone) I live with to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms.'
