Telford & Wrekin Council
20 May 2020
Bank holiday refuse/recycling collections reminder
There is a change to bin collections next week due to the spring bank holiday. All collections will be a day later for the week beginning Monday 25 May. For example, if your collection is on Monday 25 May, it will be on Tuesday 26 May, etc.. Full details of collection day changes here
Please make sure your containers are out by 7am on the day of your scheduled collection. Collections back to normal from Monday 1 June.
Household Recycling Centre update
Household Recycling Centres are open 9am-5pm daily, but please note that they are operating with site restrictions/rules in place for everyone’s safety.
Government advice is to stay at home as much as possible, so we ask residents to think carefully before they decide to visit.
We would also remind those who do have to visit, to be prepared to queue and to be respectful to staff at all times, as they are there to help and only doing their job. More information, including site rules, here:
Council's community work highlighted as part of Mental Health Awareness Week
With many people feeling heightened anxiety during the on-going Coronavirus crisis, the challenge of life in lockdown could be particularly tough for those already suffering with mental health conditions.
Message from Council Leader
Cllr Shaun Davies. Recorded 19 May 2020
Keeping you safe
Last Saturday our Public Protection Officers (with help from West Mercia Police) were out and about within the borough.
We visited some businesses to make they were following the government guidance, particularly on social distancing and around food delivery.
In the afternoon we were in Ironbridge, it was good to chat to a number of businesses and see them adopting appropriate measures.
The evening saw us visit a number of leading retail supermarkets, stores and pubs offering take away facilities. Again, it was encouraging to report that nearly all those visited were observing government guidance. There was just one place visited that evening where further action will be necessary. Officers will be monitoring the premises carefully and will take the appropriate measures if they fail to act on the advice given.
We are helping play our part in keeping the residents of Telford safe!
Here’s a great picture of one of our food businesses with our Officer. Well done to Richard at Eley’s of Ironbridge for having all the correct procedures in place!
If you need to report anything to us though, email coronavirus@telford.gov.uk
