Don't let your pumpkin go to waste

Pumpkin

With almost 10 million pumpkins sold in the UK every year for carving during the scariest season, it would be a frightening waste not to recycle what you don't eat.

Love Food Hate Waste has some lovely pumpkin recipes you might like to try, including one for the seeds - take a look here.

And here are a couple of options for what to do with what you don't eat:

  • You can place them in your food waste caddy.  Veolia knows that some of the larger pumpkins will take up a lot of room in the outdoor caddies, so residents can use their 7ltr kitchen caddy as extra storage and present at the kerbside with their larger caddy and other containers - this additional service will run from Monday 4 to Friday 8 November.
  • You can help wildlife. A 'What to do with pumpkins' article on the Woodland Trust website has some great suggestions.
