Live Well Telford launches
A new online community directory Live Well Telford has launched this week offering people of all ages an easy way to find out what's going on in their local community.
For example, are you looking for keep fit classes or walking groups close to where you live? Are you wanting to try a new hobby but not sure if there's anything available near you? Or maybe you know someone who would benefit from joining a community group to meet and chat with other people?
To celebrate the launch Councillor Andy Burford, Cabinet member for Health & Social Care, spoke on BBC Radio Shropshire about the directory and how it can help people to access the rich resource of support and information available in #Telford
If you run a community group or voluntary organisation and would like to register on the new directory visit the site and select the ‘Request a Log in’ link.
Alternatively, for more information please contact livewell@telford.gov.uk

Council Tax Reduction
Consultation on the proposed policy for 2020/21
People in Telford and Wrekin are being asked for their views on planned changes to the scheme that offers support to residents of working age on lowest incomes with the costs of council tax.
Since 2013, councils have been responsible for their own Council Tax Support schemes for working-age residents.
Telford & Wrekin Council are proposing to make significant changes to our local scheme from 1 April 2020.
The council are keen to give everyone, whether they claim support or not, the opportunity to have their say on the proposals before any changes are decided.
Consultation starts on 30 September 2019 and ends on 10 November 2019 to meet the Council’s budget setting timetable and to allow sufficient time for responses to be considered and evaluated.
Please give your views by completing the questionnaire, Councillors need these to decide on the final changes to our Council Tax Support scheme for 2020/21.
If you have additional questions regarding the consultation or require information in an alternative format please email CTRconsultation@telford.gov.uk or ring 01952 383838 and select option 3 followed by option 5.

The Make Your Mark ballot has been running in Telford and Wrekin throughout September and the beginning of October, with young people aged 11-18 voting on the issues that affect them most. Run by the British Youth Council, local authorities are invited to encourage young people to take part. The results are collected nationally and young people debate the top 5 issues in the House of Commons in November. The top two issues then become the campaigns for the forthcoming year for the UK Youth Parliament.
This year we have seen 14 venues taking part, including 8 schools, one college, one training provider and four youth groups. In total, 4,401 young people have voted so far (the results need to be with the British Youth Council by Wednesday 9 October). The top issues for the young people of Telford & Wrekin will also be announced next week, when all numbers have been confirmed.
Many thanks to those who took part and big thanks to the Young People’s Forum for counting the votes.
