Shining Stars - starts 6 September

Shining Stars

Shining Stars is a voluntary parent led play group, based at Shortwood Family Room in Wellington every Friday 1pm till 2:30pm (term time only but we do arrange meet ups and outings in the holidays) for children under 5 years old with any additional needs. It's a place for parents to get support, advice and to meet others in similar situations.

We start again 6 September.

It is run by three volunteer parents that have children with additional needs so have lots of experience and knowledge and an understanding of the isolation and the issues and concerns that parents may feel.

We are Tina, who has a 7 year old son with complex medical needs, autism, global developmental delay and other issues. Uma has a 7 year old son with autism and Karen has a 7 year old daughter with Down's syndrome.

The group has many sensory toys, role play, a ball pit as well as many other indoor and outdoor toys. Weekly activities include painting, messy play and paper crafts.

Makaton is also used, we are all DBS checked. Trained in Health & safety, safeguarding, child protection, data protection and there is always an emergency paediatric first aider on site.

We are supported by Telford & Wrekin Council.
