This Carers Week 2019, 10 - 16 June, we're coming together to help carers get connected.
There are over 18,000 people across Telford & Wrekin who are providing unpaid care. They will be looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, addiction, mental or physical illness or who needs extra help as they grow older.
Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience but carers often find it challenging to take care of their own wellbeing whilst caring. Its impact on all aspects of life from relationships and health to finances and work should not be under-estimated. Caring without the right information and support can be tough.
To access local support contact Telford and Wrekin Carers Centre, www.telfordcarers.org.uk who provide information, advice and support for carers of all ages.

Eligible applicant: If you have a great idea about how you can engage women and/or BAME communities into quality volunteering and/or coaching opportunities, then they want to hear from you. Experience of the sport sector is not essential.
Aims: The Workforce Diversity Great Ideas Fund wants to hear from anyone wanting to engage women and/or BAME communities in volunteering or coaching opportunities. Read Easy UK is a registered charity that supports volunteers to set up Read Easy groups in their own communities. These groups provide free, confidential, one-to-one support for adults who would not normally come forward for support because they are reluctant to learn in a classroom situation, or who live in areas where provision is not available.
Read Easy Regional Adviser, Kris Ventris-Field, is ambitious to launch a group in Telford to complement ‘Learn Telford’, the Council’s adult learning provision.
They are currently looking for local people who could support the development of a new group by volunteering as Pioneers. Pioneers will make connections to local groups and agencies to help identify readers and spread the word, so that other people in the community become interested in supporting the new group.
If you’d like to play a key part in helping to transform the lives of adults near you, while developing existing skills and learning new ones in a supportive, fun environment, then why not get in touch!
To learn more about becoming a Read Easy Pioneer in Telford please contact Kris Ventris-Field at kris@readeasy.org.uk or call 07771962426
