Following a vibrant workshop last Thursday we have created a frequently asked questions document which is specific to the Holiday Activities and Eat Well Fund, this is now available alongside the workshop presentation on our website.
If your organisation is interested in hosting holiday activities and meals during school holidays, to help families who receive Free School Meals or are on low income take a look at this grant opportunity.

The first thirty-five communities are receiving their share of a £50,000 pot from Telford & Wrekin Council, to come together and organise their own events.
Successful applicants can be viewed here.
The types of event to receive funding range from music festivals, family fun days with a focus on multi-cultural diversity to events promoting local nature reserves and many more.

Funding available: The scheme will fund up to 20% of eligible costs, with a minimum grant of £10,000 and a maximum grant of £75,000 payable. This means overall scheme costs would be between £50,000 and £375,000. There will be greater emphasis given to applications who have already secured most of the funding.
Eligible applicant: Registered Charities, Charitable Trusts, Charitable Incorporated Organisations, Community Associations which are registered Charities, Charitable Companies and Multi-purpose Church Halls and Scout and Guide buildings are also eligible where they are open for the whole community, there is no alternative village hall in situ, they are not single use and they are clearly advertised as multi- purpose
Aims: To help fund the updating and refurbishment of village halls so that they are fit for purpose and provide activities which seek to achieve one or more of the following outcomes for their communities:
- Improved health and wellbeing/reduction in loneliness
- Demonstrates a positive impact on the environment
- Supports the local rural economy

The Shropshire Star have launched The Great Big Thank You Awards and are searching for special people who make Shropshire and Mid Wales such a wonderful place to live.
They want to hear all about the volunteers, the good neighbours, the helping hands and those who step up when they are needed – the people who make a positive difference to where you live and work. Nominations are invited under the following categories:

Following nomination a panel of judges will then choose the finalists, with the winners being chosen by readers in a public vote.

Power to Change has launched its 2019 Community Business Market Survey. If you work for a community business then this is your chance to feed into Power to Change’s annual assessment of the community business market. By participating in the survey you are helping to increase the accuracy of the information collated about the size and structure of the community business market, the confidence levels of community business leaders, any workforce development needs, and the future outlook for the sector.
The survey findings will form an important part of Power to Change’s Community Business Market Report which will be published on its website in late 2019.
The deadline to respond is Friday, 31 May.
