CCTV investment to create a safer and better borough

CCTV

A new, improved and future-proofed CCTV system is coming to Telford and Wrekin, to include upgraded cameras and live monitoring.

Telford & Wrekin Council is investing £200,000 into the scheme and the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner is investing £245,000.

Two borough towns set to feature in first round of bids for Government High Streets Fund

Wellington Town Centre

Wellington and Oakengates are set to become the focus for Telford & Wrekin’s bid for a slice of the Government’s national £675 million scheme to help boost town high streets.

Under the Future High Street Fund’s criteria, the borough based on its population, can submit only two expression of interest bids for specific High Streets in the first round. This must be done by 22 March.

Strong Leader decision to buy former New College site

New College

Telford & Wrekin Council is set to proceed with the purchase of the former New College site with the aim of regenerating College ward.

A report to the council’s Cabinet – which meets on March 14 – says the site will be subject to a masterplan which could include a mix of uses such as new housing, supported accommodation, offices and small businesses.
