Free bulk collections to continue for over 65s and disabled

Bulk waste collection

Free bulk collections will continue for Telford and Wrekin residents aged over 65 and those with a disability as part of a series of one off investments which will total £3.6m.

A 25 per cent discount on bulk collections booked by residents in receipt of Council Tax or Housing Benefit will also continue.

Free swimming for under 18s - £1 for over 50s

We will be expaning our swimming offer to all borough residents under the age of 18 from 1 April 2019 for two years. Telford and Wrekin residents over 50 will also be able to £1.

The free swimming offer is part of a series of new one off investments which will total £3.6m.

Bright future for Telford’s street lights

Street lights, before and after

More than 20,000 street lights have been replaced with energy-efficient LEDs as part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride in Our Community improvement programme.

In just two years, the Council has upgraded street lights across the borough as well as around 1,500 illuminated signs and bollards.

Budget set to provide extra funding for adults and childrens’ services

Telford & Wrekin Council has approved its budget for the next year that will see almost an extra £6 million invested into adult social care and children's services.

The 3.2% council tax increase is equivalent to 60p/week for the borough’s average band B home.
