Pride in Our Community

Are you a community group or organisation based in Telford and Wrekin? Or maybe you're thinking about starting one up, or maybe a social enterprise or community business?

The Community Participation team will be holding an information drop in on Monday 11 March 3.00-5.00pm at Southwater Library. We also have a range of support on offer through our website where you can find:

Feed the birds training takes flight again

Feed the Birds-Telford is looking to recruit new volunteers.

Do you have an hour a week to visit someone socially isolated or housebound, who lives near to you to feed the birds?

A weekly visit provides valuable social contact.

Our next training session takes place on Wednesday 13 March.

A date for your diary as social forestry gets social

Telford woods

 

A community information event to let people know about an exciting new social enterprise set up to help local woodlands, wildlife and people takes place on 13 March at the Green Wood Centre in Coalbrookdale.

Telford Woods is an enterprise set up by Small Woods with support from our Telford 50 Legacy Fund to care for 500 hectares of council-owned woodlands and use them as venues for social, craft and training activities that boost people’s confidence and wellbeing. Everyone is welcome along to the event on 13 March – more information here

The High Sheriff of Shropshire Young Citizenship Award was held on Thursday 28 February at Shrewsbury College.  This award recognises young people who go above and beyond to help their communities from Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin. Three members of Telford & Wrekin Young People’s Forum had been nominated for an award- Olivia Merrils (nominated by Madeley Academy), Archie Barnett (nominated by Young People’s Forum) and Jessica Terry (nominated by Telford College).  Each young person had been nominated for their hard work and volunteering within their communities.  Congratulations to all those who were nominated

Lingen Davies

Lingen Davies are looking to write a new strategic plan to take them into the next five years as an active and sustainable partner in local services.

 They are keen to involve as many stakeholders as possible, including charity supporters, people who have experienced cancer, and professionals.
