The Community Participation Team are holding a training session for any young people aged between 13-18 years of age, interested in standing to become this year’s Member of Youth Parliament.
UK Youth Parliament provides opportunities for young people to use their elected voice to bring about social change through meaningful representation and campaigning. In Telford & Wrekin we have a Member and a Deputy Member who are voted in during a count night in March.
The training session is for any young person that either lives or studies in Telford and Wrekin and will involve activities that look at what UK Youth Parliament is all about, what the expectations are of a Member and Deputy and the election process. Anyone deciding to stand will produce their campaign video as part of the session. The video is then shared with schools, colleges, training providers and youth groups prior to voting.
When: Saturday 2 February 10am-4pm Where: Leegomery Community Centre, Leegate Avenue, Leegomery, Telford TF1 6NA
Please share this information amongst any young people that you think may be interested and for more information, please contact sian.makin@telford.gov.uk
