Free vintage-style tea and cake and a range of other free activities will be available at events taking place during June to mark 90 years since the Representation of the People Act and 100 years since some women were given the vote.
The
event at The Wakes will also include ‘Meet a Suffragette’, free food tasting,
information, activities & displays by community groups and organisations
and local history. There will also be a particular focus on the Women’s
Suffrage Movement in Shropshire.

Local charity Age UK Shropshire
Telford & Wrekin is offering new weekly exercise classes for the over 55s
in Telford.
The Fit4All dance exercise is a
45 minute session suitable for those who would like to get fit whilst dancing
to music. There are two venues in Telford offering Fit4All dance exercise
classes:
- Hadley Castle Farm Community Centre every Monday at 10am
- Hollinswood Community Centre on a Thursday at 11am
There is also a new seated
exercise class which is a gentle and easy to follow form of exercise to help
improve mobility based at the Community Hub in Donnington starting on Thursday
7th June at 3pm.
The cost to attend any of the
exercise sessions is £2.50 per person, per week.

POhWER is an organisation who
support people in Telford and Wrekin to access direct payments to pay for their
care and support needs. Direct payments can be allocated to an eligible
individual following a Care and Support Assessment.
POhWER will support people
through the whole process of managing their direct payment, from helping to
understand what the individual will spend it on, often using it to pay someone
to be their Personal Assistant, through interviewing candidates and then
supporting through the process of employing someone.
If you’re interested in knowing more about Direct Payments or you
already have one and need some help then visit one of POhWER’s drop-in sessions:
