 Growing Telford-based waste management company Reconomy has continued it's rapid extension with the acquisition of a £13 million turn over skip hire business.
The firm has confirmed a deal for Cory Environmental national waste brokerage arm, which includes two fellow Telford-based businesses.

 Twelve businesses have been able to offer apprenticeships to young people thanks to grants from Telford & Wrekin Council.
The Telford Job Box Apprenticeship Grant was introduced to help small businesses employ an apprentice. It is part of the Council’s youth unemployment programme to help young people find work and tackle previously high levels of unemployment in the area.
The grant, of between £1,000 and £1,500 is open to businesses within Telford and Wrekin who employ fewer than 50 people. Businesses outside the borough can also apply if they employ a Telford and Wrekin resident (subject to eligibility conditions). The Telford Jobbox Apprenticeship Grant can be claimed in addition to the National Apprenticeship AGE grant.

 Grants of up to
£200,000 are now available for small and medium-sized businesses in Telford & Wrekin
The funding is available for eligible businesses looking to take advantage of
supply chain opportunities; develop new products or for businesses looking to
expand, relocate and improve access to markets.
Four new funds, the Business Development Programme, the Business Innovation
Programme, the Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme and the HS2 Supply Chain
Programme, make up the £33m grant programme which launched last month.

 Marches companies are
being invited to join a trade mission to the US and Canada focusing on the
advanced manufacturing and automotive sectors.
The first Midlands Engine trade mission will take place from
September 18 and 22 and will be led by the Secretary of State for the
Department of Business, Innovation & Skills.
For the first time, companies from across both East and West Midlands will be
involved in a mission that will raise the profile of the region overseas.

 Telford based business Hoshizaki Europe Limited has won the Queen’s Award for International Trade for its outstanding growth in export sales.
The company which operates in the UK has a strategy for growth that includes the manufacture of products in Telford that had previously been manufactured in various overseas countries.
More than 240 businesses across the UK have received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, recognising their contribution to international trade, innovation and sustainable development.

 More than 7,000 jobs will be created and 2,800 homes built under plans revealed today for our region.
Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has submitted a bid for almost £68 million of Growth Deal funding from Westminster, which would be used for projects across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Herefordshire.
Projects put forward for funding include the development of Oswestry Innovation Park, a £13.2 million scheme which would see 1,400 jobs created, and Enterprise Telford, a £19 million manufacturing and innovation development estimated to create 1,250 homes and 1,650 full time equivalent jobs.

 Meet Norris, the latest addition to the workforce at drone photography company 360Skylens in Telford.
The humanoid robot has joined what was previously a two-man team to bring a new dimension to the business, and has already been set the task of touring the Midlands as a promotional tool of various organisations.
Described by the company as a “robot presenter”, the life-sized creation is one of four around the country being run by subsidiaries of SkyLens’s parent company 360Globalnet.

 A new £10 million development at Telford’s university campus is beginning to take shape.
Work on the new engineering department at the Telford Innovation Campus in Priorslee is now a skeleton structure, with beams forming the main atrium.
Building work on the project started in April 2016 and is part of the University of Wolverhampton’s £250 million Our Vision, Your Opportunity investment plan.
