Summer Youth Arts Workshops and Activities

Summer Youth Arts Workshops and Activities

This summer we’ve got a fantastic, free youth arts programme for young people aged 11 – 19 (25 SEND). The programme includes workshops and courses in performing arts, fashion and make up artistry, stop motion animation, henna art, poetry and creative writing, creative gardening, Somali music, art club, play in a week and more!  We will end the summer with a sharing day when young people will be able to show what they’ve done to family and friends.

Young people who live, work or study in Tower Hamlets are welcome. All activities take place at The Brady Arts Centre and Granby Community Hub.  All sessions are free but places are limited so advance booking is essential.

A Team Arts Education are also running a free summer art and design programme: “Curiosity, Innovation and Creativity!” in partnership with the University of the Arts London and the Alexander McQueen Design Team.

Summer Fun in Tower Hamlets Parks

We’re looking forward to a summer of fun in our parks and city farms!

We’ve got a fantastic programme of summer events including family days at Bartlett Park, Stepney Green Park, Wapping Gardens with sports, play, arts and crafts activities.  There will be activities all summer long at Whitehorse and Glamis adventure playgrounds.

Take part in activities at Mudchute, Stepney and Spitalfields City Farm where you can take part in farm tours, meet and learn about the animals, explore nature and have a go at being a farmer!

Join SPLASH Arts to look artistically at nature, make animated puppet plants, study flowers and plant around the park and other creative activities.

All activities are FREE and open to all families who live, work or study in Tower Hamlets. There are activities to suit all age ranges from 3 – 18 (25 SEND). Children must be accompanied by adults. You can just turn up to most activities although spaces are limited. Some activities require advance booking.


Shadwell Printmakers Exhibition

Shadwell Printmakers Exhibition at The Brady Arts Centre

The Brady Arts Centre hosts the annual summer exhibition of printmaking created in classes and workshops at Shadwell Print Studio. The exhibition showcases a wide variety prints using different  techniques and media.

Shadwell Print Studios offer printmaking courses for beginners and advanced printmakers, Shadwell Centre, East London

The exhibition is open 8 July – 30 August.


Coldfire Festival

Coldfire Festival

Coldfire festival is back! The fourth annual festival celebrating the memory of Thomas Crosbie takes place at Wennington Green, Mile End Park on Saturday 6 July.

Live music from up and coming artists and bands, open mic, stalls, mental health information, food, DJ's. There will be free workshops in grafitti, circus skills, drumming, fitbox, pilates and more! Free entry and all welcome.

Wapping Summer Shindig

Wapping Summer Shindig

Join the Turks Head Charity for this year's Wapping Summer Shinding for a huge variety of stalls, face painting, fashion, food, local history, Latin-style music and dancing, arts and crafts and much more.  All coming together to celebrate Wapping and its community.  Dress in your best Cuban inspired outfits - there will be prizes!

Head down to Wapping Green, 11am – 7pm Saturday 6 July.  The Shindig is open to everyone. There are no tickets and Wapping Green is accessible for all.

Art Matters 2 at The Art Pavilion

The Essential School of Painting returns to The Art Pavilion with the second of their end of year student exhibitions and all are welcome. The exhibition showcases the work of the students made over one or two years studying painting at ESOP.

The Essential School of Painting is a London art school specialising in painting and drawing classes taught by leading contemporary artists. The ESOP offers courses with the intention of advancing painting and other art forms in the 21st Century.

Recycling Fun Day at Boundary Gardens

Recycling Funday at Boundary Gardens

Come down to Boundary Gardens, Arnold Circus on Saturday 13 July and enjoy our recycling-themed family-friendly funday with activities including bouncy castle, face painting, free bicycle repairs, stalls to learn about recycling and composting, recycling games and poster competition and more.


Brick Lane Heritage Mural Workshop 

Brick Lane Heritage Mural Workshop at Tower Hamlets Local History Library

Community organisation Trapped in Zone One are celebrating Brick Lane with the creation of a new heritage mural and you can take part!  Join the workshop on 6 July at Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives to help co-design a mural which describes the rich heritage of Brick Lane, from the turning point of 1978 to the present day.

I Am Who I Am Now: Selections from the Bengali Photo Archive

A new exhibition at Four Corners in Roman Road of everyday photographs taken of and by Bengali people over the past 50 years. From snapshots of family life to images documenting the power of community spaces, I Am Who I Am Now looks at the interplay between individual experiences and the broader socio-political landscape in the East End.

The images are from the Bengali Photo Archive, a new collection of personal and family photographs donated by local people. They are shown alongside work by photographers who have documented the working lives, activism and anti-racist struggles of the Bengali community.  The exhibition is open from 5 July – 3 August.

The MEOTRA Summer Fun Day

MEOTRA Fun Day

The MEOTRA Summer Fun Day is back on Sunday 7 July from 1pm in Tredegar Square

Fingers crossed for a sunny afternoon full of community spirit with neighbours, family and friends. We have lots and lots of FREE fun planned including bouncy castle, face painting, arts and crafts with Sunny Jar Eco Hub, waggiest pet competition, tug of war bike repairs, cake stall and much more!

The event is open to all residents in the MEOTRA area. No ticket required.


Victoria Park Bandstand Season - Last Few Concerts!

Come and enjoy a great family afternoon at Vicky Park's famous bandstand in the final month of the Victoria Park Bandstand Season 2024. Concerts take place every Sunday until 28 July. 

From the Balkans and Bolivia, Bethnal Green and Bow, the Vicky Park Bandstand 2024 season presents fantastic free concerts to liven up your summer Sundays. Performances start at 2pm. Bring a blanket and a picnic but no BBQ's please. Check out the full programme.

The bandstand season is brought to you by Victoria Park Friends Group in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council and Savills Victoria Park.
