February Half Term in Tower Hamlets Parks

February Half Term Activities in Tower Hamlets Parks

Get Your Skates On and head down to Victoria Park on Tuesday 13 February. Join us for a winter celebration with free activities including ice skating (synthetic ice rink), climbing, inflatables, football, face-painting and more.

We've got free family activities taking place throughout half term in Mile End Park, Whitehorse Adventure Playground and Victoria Park. Come and join our parks teams for adventure play sessions, pizza making, bird box making, arts and crafts and bird barmy army! No booking is required but places are limited. Chinese New Year at Museum of London Docklands

FREE family-fun for all at Museum of London Docklands!  

Looking for some great, free family-fun this February? Museum of London Docklands have got you covered! Discover your inner Dragon at their Lunar New Year festival and take part in their migration celebration highlighting London's diverse cultures this February half-term. Learn how to ribbon dance, master martial arts, watch mesmerising performances, taste treats from the Middle East, savour vibrant Caribbean tales and much more.  Events take place Saturday 10 - Sunday 18 February.  All events are free but some Lunar New Year activities need to be booked in advance.  


Queer East London Fest

East London Queer Fest

Celebrate LGBT+ History Month 2024 at the Queer East London Fest!

You can look forward to film screenings, panel discussions, creative activities, food & refreshments, games and workshops and more!  The festival takes place on Thursday 22 February at Positive East.  Book your free ticket. 

This event is a partnership between the Positive East, elop & the Tower Hamlets LGBT+ Community Forum.


LGBTQI+ History Month Creative Writing Workshop

LGBTQI+ History Month Creative Writing Workshop

You are invited to an evening of writing and discussion, where you will explore photos, records and memories of the LGBTQ+ community in Tower Hamlets. East London-based writer and facilitator F. Zeeshan Choudhury will provide writing games and activities to interact with these archival materials. As well as sharing your work, there will be a discussion exploring elements of our queer past and ways it can be brought into the future.

This workshop is for all people 18+ who want to find strength and inspiration from the past, as well as writers looking to see how archival material can inform their work. 

Thursday 15 February  |  6.00-7.30pm. Venue: Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives. Free to attend but booking is essential - book your place here


Encounters at The Art Pavilion

Encounters - THAT exhibition at The Art Pavilion

This exhibition at The Art Pavilion in Mile End Park, is a celebration of the creativity and innovative practices in Tower Hamlets schools. It will showcase artwork produced by students during the academic year 2023-2024.

There will also be a series of workshops taking place during the exhibition to encourage and develop creative practice for current students in Tower Hamlets schools.

The exhibition is organised by the Tower Hamlets Artist Teacher Network and will be on show from Wednesday 28 February – Friday 8 March.


Mile End Vintage Furniture and Flea

Judy's Vintage Flea and Furniture Flea at The Pavilions

The Vintage Furniture Flea combines with Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair for one great big vintage shopping and furniture event at The Art and Ecology Pavilions on Sunday 4 February.  

80+ stalls of mid-century furniture, vintage homewares, retro fashion & accessories. Thrift, flea and Y2K stalls mixed in with creators selling their wardrobes, and vintage sellers from all over the UK.

Your ticket gets you access to both venues so you can come and go as you please between the two all day! Find out more and book tickets.


Mark of Cane: Kat Anderson

Mark of Cane at The Nunnery

Mark of Cane explores the impact of sugar on the African-Caribbean Diaspora, confronting the haunting legacies of the Industrial Revolution and the transatlantic slave trade.

Bow Arts present a solo exhibition by Kat Anderson, winner of the inaugural East London Art Prize. Anderson will premiere ‘Las, Fiya’ (‘Last, Fire’), a fictional short film which uses the genre of horror to explore the subjects of ancestral trauma, dispossession and the power in the return/retrieval. The exhibition is an immersive, audio-visual experience, centred around the new single-channel, fictional short film, and accompanied by new paperworks.

Mark of Cane is on show at The Nunnery Gallery Friday 9 February – Sunday 21st April

Join Young V&A for a Manga Extravaganza this half term! Two free days of manga drawing workshops for ages 11 - 14 with a professional artist. You will also get a chance to see the current Japan: Myths to Manga exhibition. Apply to take part in the workshops.


Pattern Exhibition at The Brady Arts Centre

"Patterns" exhibition at The Brady Arts Centre

This exhibition highlights work created in class by the Art4U2 group. They have explored how pattern is used in communities and cultures across the world and how pattern has been used over the centuries in textiles, fashion and interior design.

The work takes inspiration from key art historical figures who have used shape, line and form as well as the use of pattern in everyday life. It celebrates the beauty and variety of symmetry and decoration. The exhibition is on show at The Brady Arts Centre throughout February.

See the ever changing Isle of Dogs in these fascinating pictures from our Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives collection and come along to a free talk on the history of the area.

The new exhibition ‘Evolution of the Isle of Dogs’ is at Idea Store Canary Wharf from 1 – 29 February.

From Marshland to Manhatton on Thames - Join Con Maloney from the Friends of Island History Trust as he describes the major events that transformed and shaped the modern-day island on Saturday 10 February 2 - 3pm.
