A Season of Bangla Drama - 20 Acts of Love

A Season of Bangla Drama 2023

A Season of Bangla Drama returns from 1 - 26 November, and love is in the air.

This month-long festival uses the medium of theatre to celebrate Bangladeshi heritage in a creative and accessible way and love is the theme for 2023.

A key theme of this year's festival is love conquering all despite adversity. Real life comes to the fore in three unique productions. The power of poetry is prominent and comedy within marriage is given centre stage in Marriage is Murder.

Wider artforms include music, dance and movement! Be mesmerised by the beauty of traditional Indian dance with The Lightning Kathak, moved by the messages conveyed through dance in Eternal Love, and excited by the interactive multi-media storytelling in The Two Headed Bird. Don’t miss the heartwarming tale about the age-defying practice of making connections in Youthfulness Returns.

Browse our packed programme of Bengali theatre, art, dance, music and more! Tickets range from FREE to £25. Performances take place at venues throughout Tower Hamlets. Download the full festival brochure.

Glasgow Girls

40 years of painting and friendship!

This exhibition at The Art Pavilion, Mile End Park displays work by three women artists Rosemary Beaton, Lesley Burr and Alison Harper.  The term  ‘Glasgow Girls’, refers to the dynamic movement of artists emerging from Glasgow School of Art in the 1980s at the same time as the group called ‘The Glasgow Boys’. These groups of painters were part of a resurgence in expressive, figurative painting in the eighties and early nineties.
