Families Matter Magazine: Autumn 2023

Read the latest edition of the borough’s Families Matter magazine which features local and national information on services and news to support families.

This term’s edition includes information on the annual parent conference, held at the Town Hall for parents and carers in July, the Healthy Families programme and other workshops being delivered to support parents, carers, foster carers and special guardians across the borough.

2. Childcare

Need childcare over the October half term holiday?

The Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare Scheme is Ofsted registered and provides childcare for children aged 3 to 13 years old.

The next scheme will take place during the October half term school holiday period (Monday 23 October to Friday 27 October) at St Mary and St Michael Primary School.

Pumpkin

Spooky family fun this half term holiday

There are free Halloween themed activities for the whole family this half term holiday.  Activities taking place in the borough’s parks include pumpkin carving, creepy crafts and adventure play.

Strong Identities

Building Strong Identities

To mark Black History Month, this Platform to Talk session explores the importance of belonging, culture and identity. Parents can join the conversation and discover how these elements can really enrich their child’s learning and self-esteem.

Digital Worry Game

Digital game to help children manage their worries

Lumi Nova is a NICE approved adventure game that can help children aged 7-12 years to manage their worries and reduce symptoms of anxiety.  

While exploring planets, customising characters and earning treasure, children break their fears down into manageable steps, learning life-long skills and building resilience.

The app is available to support Tower Hamlets families and is free to download.

Town Hall

Show and Tell Careers Information Day

Come along to the first Show and Tell Careers Information Day at the new Town Hall. It’s a chance to discover the varied careers you can have working for a local authority.

Families with children and young people are welcome to attend this free ticketed event. Please note that children under the age of 12 must be accompanied and supervised at all times.
