School clothing grant

School clothing grant

There is still time to apply for a school clothing grant. If you are eligible, there is a grant available to help towards the cost of a school uniform for children aged 11 who are changing from primary to secondary school.

Applications can be made up until Saturday 30 September.

If you’ve recently received your GCSE or A-Level results and you’re not sure what to do next, Tower Hamlets Young WorkPath may be able to help.

Young WorkPath is a Council service that provides careers information, advice and guidance to help young people reach their goals.

Keeping Children Safe Online in Year 6 and Year 7

As the new academic year begins, many children in school Year 6 and Year 7 will be getting their first mobile phone.

In this special Platform to Talk session for parents, you will discover how you can keep children safe as they become more active online.

Emotional First Aid course for parents

Emotional First Aid course for parents

The Emotional First Aid course will help you notice the early signs of stress and encourage you to identify things that could enhance your emotional wellbeing.

Over the six-week course, you will have the chance to share your experiences with other parents and pick up some practical self-care tips that are the foundations to good mental health.

Co-parenting support for separated parents

Co-parenting support for separated parents

Separation and divorce can cause tensions in family relationships, but with the right support, it is possible to co-parent successfully with ex-partners. The six week ‘Triple P Family Transitions’ programme helps separated parents manage conflict and develop a more co-operative approach to parenting.  

Ex-partners are not required to attend, but if they would like to, they will be invited to a separate course.

Testicular health in boys and young men

Testicular health in boys and young men

Testicular cancer rates start to rise in the mid-teens, while testicular torsion (twisting) rates start to rise at around age 11.  Both conditions can be treated if diagnosed early but can become more serious if left for too long.

Health Spot - GP service for young people

Health Spot is a free and confidential GP service for young people in Tower Hamlets. It puts young people in control of their health care by offering appointments with doctors who are experienced in supporting young people.

Staff are friendly and non-judgemental, so that young people can talk to them freely about any of their health concerns.
