This is the FAMILIES newsletter from The Healthy Lives Team. Each Friday we share relevant information, activities and resources to support your ongoing health and wellbeing.
The HEALTHY LIVES TEAM supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.

Music & Movement Easter Camp - Rich Mix
Monday 3rd April – Thursday 6th April
Join Rich Mix for a FREE week of fun and energetic music-making, dance and crafts workshops for families and children to enjoy together.
The Music and Movement camp will explore rhythms and culture from around the world, and turn stories of journeys (real and imagined) into new songs. Leading to a celebratory performance on the afternoon of Thursday.
Participants are asked to bring a shaker, percussive toys and their imagination and to come prepared wearing comfortable clothes and shoes.
Suitable for children aged 5+ (families with babies welcome).
Family Yoga Easter Camp – Rich Mix
Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th April
Rich Mix will be delivering FREE family yoga sessions. Each yoga session will be easy to follow and is designed to help calm and still the mind.
Suitable for families with children aged 5+
Family SEND Yoga session
On Friday 14th April Rich Mix will be delivering a FREE family SEND Yoga session. It will be a beginner’s taster session which will include light, sound and touch. For more information please email thsendforum@gmail.com.

 New Healthy Start Video – Featuring Tower Hamlets residents
Healthy start helps families claiming certain benefits to buy healthy food and milk from the 10th week of pregnancy until the child’s 4th birthday. If you are under 18 and pregnant, you are automatically eligible, regardless of your benefit status.
You are sent a Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in supermarkets and other grocery stores to buy healthy food, milk or first infant formula. The card is topped up every 4 weeks. In Tower Hamlets, all children under the age of 4 and all pregnant and breastfeeding women and up to 1 year post-natal are eligible for free Healthy Start vitamins.

Easter Activities in Victoria Park
Did you know that Victoria Park is the largest park in Tower Hamlets, at 86 hectares? It has also held the Green Flag People’s Choice Award for 9 consecutive years! Join the Victoria Park Rangers this Easter for a range of fun activities. The events are FREE and there is no need to book, just drop in!

 Kooth free online mental health and wellbeing service in Tower Hamlets - new video and resources for Parents and Carers
Kooth is a free online mental health and wellbeing service available to all young people in Tower Hamlets aged 11-25. It is a self-referral service, where young people have access to fully-qualified online counsellors until 10 pm every day of the year. There is also a range of other support including an online interactive magazine, discussion boards, self-help tools, and wellbeing activities. A new video for parents and carers has been produced, as well as a range of parent and carer resources, please follow the links below.

Holiday activities and Food provision (HAF) 2023 - Free School Meal recipients
LBTH have produced a spreadsheet listing a range of organisations offering FREE fun activities and meals over the Easter School holidays. Places are available for children in reception up to Year 11 (inclusive) who receive Free School Meals.
Day clubs will be delivering HAF programmes from 3 April to 14 April.
What do the programmes include?
- All the programmes include at least one meal a day which will meet school food standards.
- There will also be an element of nutritional education each day aimed at improving knowledge and awareness of healthy eating.
- Along with the food aspects of the schemes, there will be fun activities for kids and the chance to try out new things.
- Activities include physical sports or games, creative activities like music or drama and day trips.
