Community Energy

London Community Energy Fund

Phase six of the London Community Energy Fund (LCEF) is now open for applications.

Up to £400,000 of funding is available to support community energy projects across the capital. Funding is available across four streams supporting a range of projects:

  • Stream A – Feasibility and business case development grants of up to £15,000
  • Stream B – Project implementation and delivery grants of up to a third of the capital value of the project, capped at a maximum of £50,000
  • Stream C – Innovation and pre-feasibility development micro-grants of up to £5,000 per project supported
  • Stream D – Training, events and engagement grants of up to £5,000 per group supported.

LCEF can fund projects run by community energy groups, as well as those supporting renewable-energy and energy-saving measures on community buildings. This may include projects that help to reduce energy usage and running costs in schools, community centres, places of worship libraries and other sites providing a service to the local community.

Business Growth

Free Government Funded Growth Programme

UWS London is now recruiting 25 proactive business owners to take part in a Government Funded Growth Programme in April 2023.

The Help to Grow: Management programme worth £7,500 – is an innovative and accessible solution for SMEs looking to boost their performance, resilience, and long-term growth.

The programme is 90% funded by the UK Government, but aware of the financial pressures faced by SMEs, UWS are one of few business schools that are offering an additional 10% funding bursary ensuring there is no cost to participating organisations.

Over 12 weeks, participants will take part in a range of interactive, online sessions and four in-person workshops at UWS’s London Campus, exploring key topic areas including internationalisation, branding, marketing, and digitisation.

In addition, participants will take part in peer group discussions with like-minded business owners, benefit from 10 hours of 1:1 business mentoring and develop a unique growth action plan tailored to help them tackle their challenges.

Property Advice Service

Renting a property can be an expensive and complex part of running a business. That’s why the London Business Hub will support you to find the right space and fully understand the costs associated with renting a property and can also help if if you’re renegotiating a lease with your landlord.

Entrepreneurs and business owners taking part in the programme will have access to a series of free masterclasses on topics such as business rates, lease negotiations and more. The programme can also offer one-to-one support for your specific circumstances from expert property consultants Gerald Eve and other property professionals.
