Have your say: School admissions process (2024-25)
We are consulting all interested parties, including parents and community groups, on our school admissions arrangements for the 2024-25 school year.
We are aiming to improve the school admissions process in Tower Hamlets so that it's fair, and that as many parents as possible gain a place for their child at one of their preferred schools. Have your say by completing the online survey by 24 November 2022.
Victoria Park wins People’s Choice Award
The award, voted for by the public, is part of the Green Flag Award - the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – and recognises the nation’s top ten favourite parks.
The news that Victoria Park has achieved a People’s Choice Award for the ninth consecutive year comes after research conducted by Keep Britain Tidy shows that for parks to be able to contribute to improvements in health and well-being, they must be accessible, well-managed and maintained, and offer something for everyone within the community.
Free Furoshiki wrapping and bath salt gift workshop
Come along to our very first Furoshiki workshop, a traditional Japanese way to wrap gifts with fabric on Thursday 24 November from 10:30am-12:30pm at Aberfeldy Centre.
Learn this easy, reusable and stylish gift wrapping alternative to paper and sticky tape just in time for Christmas! At the same workshop, you will learn how to mix your own bath salts using fruit peel and old herbs and spices, a lovely inexpensive and eco-friendly gift to treat your friends and family.
Lets-Localise launched in Tower Hamlets
We've partnered with Lets-Localise on the Green Skills Programme. This programme focuses on providing unique opportunities to schools where they can engage and increase their students' awareness about the current global environmental issues and also equip them with the values and skills that are necessary to build a sustainable and resource-efficient society.
We want to engage with schools across the borough so we can bring this programme to as many students in the borough as possible.
Celebrating our young people
Last week, we celebrated the positive impact youth work has on young people as part of Youth Work Week. It was also a chance to highlight our young people’s potential and achievements.
We are also celebrating and recognising our young people through our Youth Achievement Awards, which will be handed to young people who have shown commitment, high development and passion and have overcome barriers over the past few years. If you know a deserving winner, nominate a young person by Sunday 20 November, 5pm.
