To support families with the secondary school application and transfer process, the Transition Support Service are holding advice sessions for Year 6 parents and carers. The sessions will be delivered online through Zoom on the following dates:
- Friday 30 September at 11am
- Tuesday 4 October at 11am
- Wednesday 5 October at 6pm
- Monday 10 October at 1pm
- Friday 14 October at 11am
- Tuesday 18 October at 6pm
- Friday 21 October at 11am
The Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare Scheme is Ofsted registered and provides childcare for children aged three to 13 years old.
The next scheme will take place during the October half term (Monday 24 October - Friday 28 October) at:

Advanced booking to secure places is required.
Separation and divorce can cause tensions in family relationships, but with the right support, it is possible to co-parent successfully with ex-partners. The six-week ‘Triple P Family Transitions’ programme helps separated parents manage conflict and develop a co-operative approach to parenting.

Ahead of October half term, visit the upcoming Rich Mix Bookswap event to get some free pre-loved books for holiday reading!
Simply take your pre-loved books and swap them for a brand-new adventure. You can attend even if you don’t have books to swap – there will be plenty to share.

Parents who complete a parenting programme may still benefit from additional support and a safe space to share their experiences with other parents.
The Parenting Team have an online support group just for this. Parents will have a chance to meet other parents, boost their wellbeing and learn even more parenting strategies.

Would you like to develop a positive relationship with your teenager and discover ways to encourage good behaviour?
Join this nine-week programme created for parents of teenaged children. You will have the chance to meet other parents, share experiences and pick up some essential family survival tips!

This autumn, musicians from City of London Sinfonia will be joining stay and play sessions at Mile End and Isle of Dogs Children and Family Centres.
Through inclusive and engaging interactions with musicians, children and parents will be able to experience classical instruments and live music at their own pace and join in with music making in their own way.
Alongside the monthly Families Matter e-bulletin, the Parent and Family Support Service also produces a termly magazine full of local and national information on services to support families.
This term’s edition includes information on volunteering opportunities for parents, internet safety and a range of parenting support and advice. There is also information on the support available if you are worrying about money.

The Parent and Family Support Service offer information, advice and support services in partnership with schools and community venues. Our services are also available online through webinars, virtual meetings and forums.
