The Healthy Lives Team Families update contains helpful information and activities for your whole school community


This is the FAMILIES newsletter from The Healthy Lives Team. Each Friday we share relevant information, activities and resources to support your ongoing health and wellbeing.

The HEALTHY LIVES TEAM supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.

Summer Fun LBTH

Summer activities 2022 – Summer of Fun in Tower Hamlets!

Summer is finally here, and this year there are even more activities to keep children and teenagers busy throughout, most of which are FREE. Activities include live music, music production lessons, and even online photography workshops. The schedule of activities will be updated regularly, so you may want to consider bookmarking the page and checking in throughout the summer and beyond.

Kooth – free online mental health and wellbeing service for young people aged 11-25

Kooth is a free online mental health and wellbeing service available to all young people in Tower Hamlets aged 11-25. It is a self-referral service, where young people have access to fully-qualified online counsellors until 10 pm every single day of the year. There is also a range of other support including an online interactive magazine, discussion boards, self-help tools, and wellbeing activities.

Every Mind Matters - mental health and self-care for young people

The NHS has created a mental health and self-care webpage for young people, hosting a series of engaging videos on a range of topics, which include:

  • Self-care and social media
  • Dealing with change
  • How to deal with unhelpful thoughts
  • Refocusing and reframing
  • How to sleep better
  • The benefits of exercise on mental health

Healthy Start

Healthy Start vouchers are going digital

If you are more than ten weeks pregnant or have a child under four, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk. Visit to learn more and apply.

  • If you are already receiving Healthy Start vouchers, the way you receive this will soon change from paper voucher to prepaid card.
  • You should have been contacted about this change already by letter or leaflet within your voucher pack.
  • Whether you are applying for the first time, or currently receiving paper vouchers, you must go online now to apply for your prepaid card.
  • If your application is successful, you will typically receive your prepaid card within seven working days of your application.
