Each month we share information, advice, and opportunities for you to join our networks, support groups or parenting sessions.

Read on to find out how you can connect with other parents and carers, participate in family activities, share your experiences and learn together.

Drums

Join the Caribbean Carnival at Rich Mix this weekend!

Take part in a fun and interactive performance workshop for families to enjoy together, based around traditional Caribbean folk songs and social dances.

 Jubilee

Jubilee themed half term family events and more

There are a variety of free activities for children and families to enjoy in our parks this half term and over the Jubilee Bank Holiday, Monday 30 May to Sunday 5 June.

On Friday 3 June there will be arts and crafts sessions in King Edward Memorial Park, Wapping, where children and families can make cardboard crowns, tiaras and swords.  We will also be taking a look at the royal heritage of our parks. 

Visit Victoria Park on Sunday 5 June to celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, as part of the bandstand season, brought to the public by Victoria Park Friends Group in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council.

Other half term activities lined up include adventure play, window box planting workshops, canoeing, fishing, pizza making and more.  Check out the Local Offer for more half term activity ideas too.

New online parent support network

If you are a parent who has completed a parenting programme with the borough’s Parenting Team, you may still benefit from some additional support. There is a new, online parent support network where you will be able to share your experiences with other parents, boost your wellbeing and pick up even more parenting tips.

Snacks

Platform to Talk - let’s talk about healthy snacks

Platform to Talk is a safe space for parents to come together, share their experiences and get reliable information. The sessions cover a range of topical issues including family life, parenting and health and wellbeing.

The next Platform to Talk will give you a chance to share your thoughts on eating habits and snacking. You’ll discover how by making small changes and swapping unhealthy snacks for healthier alternatives, you can make a real difference to your family’s health and wellbeing.

SEND support group for parents

Would you like to meet other parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), share your experiences and pick up some useful information?  Come along to the fortnightly SEND support group for parents.

Hilarity

Join the Hilarity Academy

The Hilarity Academy is a free space for children and young people to learn the art of comedy. Workshops include lessons on learning how to tell jokes, creating sketches, writing stand up material and clowning. The project, which is led by professional comedians, holds workshops every Monday after school.

Festival

Come along to the Festival of Communities

The Festival of Communities is returning to Tower Hamlets. The festival, hosted by Queen Mary University of London in partnership with local organisations, will feature fun family focused activities and workshops that showcase local research, creativity, and community initiatives.

There will also be free face painting, henna, balloon modelling, inflatables, food stalls and more!
