Being a parent or carer is not easy. Each month we share information, advice and opportunities for you to join our networks, support groups or parenting sessions.

The Local Offer has put together loads of useful resources, including advice, support, information and activities for children, young people and families over the October half term holiday.
The Family Information Service operates a telephone and email helpline service from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 020 7364 6495.
Join Tower Hamlets Pupil Services and the Transition Support Service for an online information session that gives parents advice on the primary school application process. The session will also provide top tips about primary transition.
The sessions will be delivered virtually over Zoom on the following dates:

Mayor John Biggs paid a visit to St Anne’s and Guardian Angels Primary School in Whitechapel to launch the flu vaccination campaign and read to children from a storybook about the vaccine.
Flu can be very serious, causing thousands of hospitalisations and deaths in the UK every winter.
All children aged 2-16 are eligible for a flu vaccine this year. Children aged two and three can be vaccinated at their GP surgery, while older children will be vaccinated in school with parental consent.
Following the government’s announcement, the Covid-19 vaccination programme for all 12–15 year olds is being rolled out in Tower Hamlets over the coming months. Please join Public Health at any of the upcoming webinars to hear more and to ask any questions that you may have.

It’s Anti-Bullying Week, 15–19 November, so the Anti-Bullying Alliance have teamed up with Kidscape develop a toolkit for parents. The pack has useful tips about what to do if you are worried about bullying and provides the tools to help you to talk to children about bullying.
This discussion based virtual session provides a safe space for parents to come together, share their experiences and get reliable information.
To help mark Anti-Bullying Week, November’s Platform to Talk will empower parents to ‘Stand Up to Bullying’. The session will explore bullying in all its forms and provide useful advice on talking to children about bullying.

Would you like to refresh your strategies to deal with challenging behaviour from your teenage children? If so, attend our one-off positive parenting workshops taking place this term.

The Parent and Carer Council (PCC) would like to invite Tower Hamlets parents to join existing PCC members for a special workshop covering internet safety. The one-hour workshop will explore ways parents can keep their children safe while online.

Would you like to have a say in how the council’s budget should be spent? The council’s budget consultation is your chance to get involved and help shape the future for all.
Just read the budget booklet and complete the online survey by 10am, Monday 15 November.
Christmas is just around the corner and the Mayor of Tower Hamlets is on the look-out for unique designs for this year’s Christmas cards.
The competition is open to all children living in Tower Hamlets, aged 5-11 years old. Get your designs in by 4pm, Monday 8 November.
