The Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare Scheme offers play provision for children aged 3-13 years. The October scheme will be held at St Mary and St Michael Primary School from Monday 25 October - Friday 29 October 2021.
The Covid-19 vaccination programme for all 12- 15 year olds will be rolled out in Tower Hamlets over the coming months. Join these parent webinars, delivered through Zoom, to find out more about the programme and ask any questions you may have.

The Tower Hamlets and City SEND Information, Advice and Support Service are offering free workshops for parents to provide key information about the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. The first workshop will explore what an EHCP is, its purpose as well as features of a good EHC plan. The second workshop will look at what should happen before, during and after an Annual Review as well as ways to ensure an EHCP is ready for transferring to secondary school.

Parents need reliable information to help them make informed decisions about their child’s future. To support families with the secondary transfer process, Pupil Services and the Transition Support Service are holding online advice sessions in October.

October is Black History Month and books can play a vital role in helping make sense of the past. Author Catherine Johnson has teamed up with the Book Trust to share her all time favourite Black History books that will educate and inspire.
These discussion-based virtual sessions provide a safe space for parents to come together, share their experiences and get reliable information.
To correspond with Black History Month, the October Platform to Talk celebrates diversity with a special session called ‘Building strong Identities’. The session will explore ideas of identity and culture and how they can contribute to a child’s sense of self- worth. There will be opportunities for parents to share their own experiences as well as pick up some useful ideas on how to develop children’s interest in and respect for different cultures and identities.

The Somali Parents and Carers Network meet once a month either virtually or at different locations in the borough. The network provides a safe space for parents to share experiences relating to education, parenting and safeguarding.
The next virtual meeting will be on the theme of internet safety and will explore ways parents can keep their children safe while online.

Parents and carers are welcome to come along to the Parent and Carer Council, listen to other parents and key speakers and give their views about services that are available to parents in the borough. It’s a great way to get involved with local consultations, help identify gaps in support for families and discuss national issues that affect parents locally.

Learning as a family helps parents to re-connect with learning and children to develop the skills they need to excel at school. This year’s Family Learning Festival takes place on 16 - 31 October and the theme is play, imagine, learn.
The festival hopes to bring families together and inspire a love of learning through imaginative play.
The Parent and Family Support Service offer information, advice and support services in partnership with schools and community venues and most recently due to the Coronavirus our services are available online through webinars, virtual meetings and forums.
