Vaccination venues now include some local schools
There are now 13 vaccination sites in Tower Hamlets. You will be pleased to hear that vaccination venues have been extended to include some of our local schools, as highlighted in the image above.
Vaccination Key Messages from LBTH Public Health Team:
-
The vaccines are effective against the Delta variant. Two doses of the COVID19 vaccines are highly effective against the Delta variant, which is now making up the vast majority of cases in the UK. Don’t delay getting your vaccine to protect yourself and others, and don’t forget your second dose.
-
Two doses are more protective than one dose. Research shows that you must have both doses to gain maximum protection against all existing and emerging variants. Getting your second dose will save lives. This is especially important if you are more at risk.
-
Vaccinated people are far less likely to get COVID with symptoms. Vaccinated people are even more unlikely to get serious COVID19, to be admitted to hospital, or to die from it. Protect yourself and others by getting two doses of the vaccine.
-
Getting your vaccine will significantly reduce your risk of dying or becoming seriously ill from COVID19. It will also significantly reduce your chances of getting infected and infecting others. If you are eligible, don’t delay getting your vaccine and get your second dose for maximum protection for yourself and those around you.
Online support over the summer holidays (Ages 11-24) – Kooth
Kooth is an online service designed to support the wellbeing of young people and they will continue to be there throughout the summer holidays when schools are closed. Kooth provides a safe and secure means of accessing mental health and wellbeing support for young people across London.
Kooth offers young people the opportunity to have a text-based conversation with a qualified counsellor. Counsellors are available from 12noon to 10pm on weekdays and 6pm to 10 pm at weekends, every day of the year on a drop-in basis. There is access to regular booked online counselling sessions as needed too.
Outside counselling hours’ young people can message the team and get support by the next day. There are a huge range of articles, forums and discussion boards on the website, which offer support on well-being.
Summer activities and play 2021 – Tower Hamlets Council website

There are currently over 200 events for families in Tower Hamlets, many of which are free or low-cost. Activities range from photography workshops, music production lessons, a holiday childcare club, through to National Citizenship Service (NCS) summer programmes.
The Summer Participation and Involvement Event (Summer PIE) - Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families
The Summer Participation & Involvement Event (Summer PIE) is an event dedicated to giving young people and parents the opportunity to engage in a variety of FREE exciting online workshops. The workshops, held on 12th and 13th August, range from self-care, creative, upskilling, panel-style discussions, ted-style talks and much more. Attendees can pick and choose which workshops they want to attend over the two days. On the webpage you can find further information and a link to sign up to the event.
“To photograph is to hold one’s breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It’s at that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
