Free seminars for five steps to mental health and wellbeing framework

The Anna Freud Centre has launched its 5 Steps to Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework, a simple, free and interactive tool to help schools and colleges develop a whole setting approach on their own terms.

Over 1,000 people attended their last seminar, 'Understanding Need' in November. You can watch their previous seminars and book their future ones on their website. The next seminar is on 'Supporting Staff' on 7th January 2021.

Looking back toolkit

Looking back and planning ahead

Although the festive break will be welcome to many, some children may be worried about what the festive season will feel like this year.

The Anna Freud Centre's, Mentally Healthy Schools team, has put together a toolkit to help staff and pupils reflect on 2020 and manage any end of term anxieties. There are also resources included to support the wellbeing of staff and parents and carers during this time.

11-18 year olds

Calling all UK students aged 11-18 years old

Mentally Healthy Schools from the Anna Freud Centre is expanding its services to secondary schools, sixth form and further education colleges. They want their website to be a true reflection of the mental health and wellbeing issues that pupils face in their day-to-day life.

They have developed this short survey for any 11-18 year olds to complete. It will ask students to share their thoughts on how schools can better support their mental health.

Inside out day

Now and Beyond on Inside Out Day

On the 3rd February 2021, Beyond and Inside Out Day will host the UK’s first ever mental health and wellbeing festival for primary and secondary schools, during Children’s Mental Health Week.

Thousands of schools will have the opportunity to choose from an army of mental health & wellbeing experts donating their time to run sessions, free of charge.

Inside Out Day during Children’s Mental Health Week is an awareness campaign that aims to enable young people to start talking about their mental health.

How someone looks on the outside doesn’t necessarily reflect how they are truly feeling on the inside, so it is important to always be kind and think of others.

Turn your clothes inside out to get important conversations started. No one should be embarrassed about how they feel.

It's important that children know that it’s OK not to be OK. No one is perfect, even though they may look so from the outside.
