IMPORTANT UPDATE

Welcome to the new SCHOOL STAFF newsletter from The Healthy Lives Team!

Each Wednesday we will be sharing school relevant information, lesson plans and resources which can be used to support the teaching of health and wellbeing. This will go out to school contacts only.

The Healthy Lives Team supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.

We now have a Healthy Lives Team webpage where you can find out more about the team and access Healthy Schools resources and all our archived newsletters.

Free seminar

5 Steps to Mental Health and Wellbeing free seminar - Understanding Need

The Anna Freud Centre has recently launched its 5 Steps to Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework, a simple, free and interactive tool to help schools and colleges develop a whole setting approach on their own terms.

They are holding five seminars throughout the year based on each of the steps and this free seminar on 19 November, 16:30 - 18:00 is the second of the series and focuses on Understanding Need. It will look at how measurement can be simple, can help identify which children need support and ensure that your investments are based on evidence. 

All school leaders, teachers, school staff and mental health workers in schools, educational psychologists, and any allied professionals interested in supporting mental health in schools and colleges can book now!

GameJam guide

As a response to the pandemic, Kazzum Arts have developed a 36 page guide of tips, techniques, practical exercises and professional standards for online arts facilitation.

It is hoped this free guide will benefit individuals and organisations within the youth and arts sectors who could use a little inspiration, professional development or encouragement with some of the complexities that a facilitator may encounter when holding space for young people online.

MiSP sitting

#SchoolsSitTogether with Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP)

MiSP bring their national and international community together online for a group mindfulness practice. Teachers and students from primary and secondary schools all over the world, who have introduced mindfulness into their schools, are invited to join the MiSP team for a mindful sit on Wednesday 18th November at 12pm.

Kooth

KOOTH free promotional resources for schools

All young people in Tower Hamlets aged 11-25 can now access Kooth, a free online mental health & well-being service.

Young people can log onto Kooth until 10pm every single day of the year to speak to a fully-qualified counsellor about anything they wish. There are also self-help tools & activities, an online magazine and forums which are designed to support a young person’s well-being.

They now have a portal which includes all the current Kooth promotional resources & campaigns.
