IMPORTANT UPDATE
Welcome to the SCHOOL STAFF newsletter from The Healthy Lives Team!
Each Wednesday we will be sharing school relevant information, lesson plans and resources which can be used to support the teaching of health and wellbeing. This will go out to school contacts only.
The Healthy Lives Team supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.
We now have a Healthy Lives Team webpage where you can find out more about the team and access Healthy Schools resources and all our archived newsletters.
If you would like further support or details, please contact Kate Smith, Head of Healthy Lives, at kate.smith@towerhamlets.gov.uk.
We are incredibly proud in Tower Hamlets to have supported schools to gain more Healthy Schools awards than any other borough in London. So please use this newsletter in whatever way suits you best to stay as fit and healthy as possible and please share this newsletter using your social media or website using the following share button, or you can click the hyperlink in the top right corner of this email:

Active travel film
The Healthy Lives Team have put together a short film to encourage families to walk, cycle or scoot to school. There's never been a better time to get active on the school run by choosing to walk and cycle to school.
We would really encourage you to show this film in your school assemblies and share with your families.
Wellbeing resources for primary schools
Prior to the national lockdown, The Fantastic Fred experience from the NHS Good Mental Health Matters, provided interactive performances in schools which taught children how to look after their own mental health.
Schools can now register to access the free teaching resources and downloadable classroom activities for Key Stages 1 and 2, which use the helpful acronym F.R.E.D:
Food - eating the right foods
Rest- getting enough sleep
Exercise - being active
Digital Devices - managing time online
Classroom Changemakers
Classroom Changemakers is an award programme that seeks to unearth, celebrate and share great ideas from teachers and teaching assistants which aim to give young people the opportunity to be creative and solve problems in maths and computer science.
Resources for wellbeing learning at home
These units of work are designed for children from Key Stages 1 and 2 to support their learning if they are self-isolating at home.
The activities aim to reassure young people and their families. They are designed to encourage self-care and support wellbeing, but importantly to be fun and engaging.
"I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was."
