Mayor message

A message from the Mayor of Tower Hamlets

The Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs, has written a message to the residents of Tower Hamlets to address the recent rise in cases of Covid-19.

Despite a fall over the summer, cases are now rising and Tower Hamlets now has one of the highest levels in London.  Therefore, in addition to national measures, the Mayor is urging residents to avoid visiting other people in their homes unless absolutely necessary, to play their part to protect the community and stop the spread of the virus.

5 Steps to mental health and wellbeing

The Anna Freud Centre’s new framework, 5 Steps to Mental Health and Wellbeing, is to help schools and colleges develop a school or college-wide approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Written by teachers and school leaders with guidance from mental health experts, it is a simple, free, interactive framework and each step is supported by evidence based practice, free or low cost resources, and case studies from schools and colleges.

Moving up

Moving up! The transition to secondary school

The Anna Freud Centre has released a new animation, Moving up! The transition to secondary school, which aims to help year 7 (and year 6) pupils feel more confident, less anxious and better equipped to cope with the changes associated with moving to secondary school.

The animation is accompanied by lesson activities and an assembly plan, which will support pupils to discuss some of their potential worries and let them know they are not alone if they are feeling worried.

Solutions are also explored, such as talking to a trusted adult or friend and knowing there are lots of ways to look after your mental health including self-care.
