 IMPORTANT UPDATE
We are really glad that children are now going back to school and continuing their education. As a result of this we are now going to change the newsletter.
From next week there will be a Wednesday edition for school staff, with lesson plans, resources and other school relevant information, which can be used to support the teaching of health and wellbeing. This will go out to school contacts only.
There will also be a Friday edition for parents and families to support their ongoing health and wellbeing. This will go out to all contacts.
The Healthy Lives Team supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.
We now have a Healthy Lives Team webpage where you can find out more about the team and access Healthy Schools resources and all our archived newsletters.
We are incredibly proud in Tower Hamlets to have supported schools to gain more Healthy Schools awards than any other borough in London. So please use this newsletter in whatever way suits you best to stay as fit and healthy as possible.
If you're in a school, please share this newsletter using your social media or website using the following share button, or you can click the hyperlink in the top right corner of this email:

Just to let you know, you're receiving this because you have either opted in to get emails from the council relating to children and education, or you are one of the Healthy Lives team's regular contacts, or you may also have been forwarded this email from your school.
If you know anyone who would like to sign up to this newsletter, please send them the following link. They will need to close the initial pop-up subscription box and complete the one on the main webpage. They will then need to choose Children and Education as their preferred topic:

 Phoneline for vulnerable residents
Tower Hamlets Council have set up a phoneline to support vulnerable residents and people identified by the NHS as being at the highest risk of severe illness from coronavirus.
You can read the full government guidance online along with information about how the council is supporting these residents.
The phone line is open Monday to Friday (9am - 5pm) and the number is 020 7364 3030.
 Become a Covid-19 community champion
As cases of Covid-19 are increasing in the borough, Tower Hamlets Council is calling on residents to sign up to become Covid-19 community champions to help everyone stay informed.
Residents sign up and the council then regularly shares up-to-date advice and information on Covid-19 with them, in their preferred format. Champions then share information with their families, friends and their wider communities, helping them make sense of it.
 Grow Your Own Herbs
Use this herb growing guide from the Royal Horticultural Society to grow herbs in the home and in the garden. This cost saving activity will brighten the home, provide an interesting hobby, cross curricular links to science and can add plenty of flavour to food and drinks!
