Two separate staff meetings have been scheduled regarding the creation of an Administration and Business Support Service. The meetings will take place in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, Pontypool on the afternoon of Monday 22nd February. The first will run 2.00 - 3.00pm and the second 3.30 - 4.30pm. Could you please indicate your intentions and your preferred time slot to your line manager or Steering Group representative in advance.
As part of ongoing improvements to the service that we offer to our customers, we will be introducing additional functionality into the SRS Self Service tool. You are now able to respond directly to any call you have logged to the SRS. Each call within the system will provide you with a link which will allow you to contact the Service Desk. This should be used if you require an update or have further information to provide to the call, please do not e-mail the Service Desk directly. The SRS Self Service tool is accessed via an icon from your desktop.
Cwmbran Male Voice Choir will be hosting a concert in aid of the Coed Eva Primary School Appeal. 'A fundraising evening of song' will feature the Coed Eva Primary School Choir and special guest artist Victoria Haines. The event will be held tomorrow at the Salvation Army Hall in Wesley Street, Old Cwmbran. The LAST Creditor payment run for the Financial year 2015/16 will be run on the afternoon of THURSDAY 31st March, with all cheques and BACS remittances being dispatched that day.There will be a cheque and BACS payment run as normal on Tuesday 29th March and BACS payment run on Wednesday 30th. The emergency cheque service will not be available from Monday 21st March. More information here.
The Mayor of Torfaen, Councillor Giles Davies is hosting a charity quiz and chips night on Tuesday, 23rd February at 7pm. Taking place at Pages fish bar in Cwmbran, entry fee is £7.50 per person which includes a fish and chip dinner and entry to the quiz. There is a maximum of 6 people per team. Find out more here

Next week, special cabinet committees of Torfaen Council and Monmouthshire Council will be asked to approve reports recommending that Blaenau Gwent Council join the Shared Resource Service (SRS) as a partner from April 2016. The reports which recommend the merger, would see Blaenau Gwent’s ICT staff, structures and systems merge into the SRS over several months in order to increase staff capacity, widen access to ICT expertise and enhance services. Each year, millions of people across the world turn off their lights for an hour for WWF’s Earth Hour – the global celebration of our planet. Earth Hour will be taking place at 8:30pm-9:30pm on Saturday 19th March. Torfaen council will be showing its support by ensuring the Civic Centre's lights are turned off, and encouraging residents to switch off their lights.
