Digital Growth Grant competition - deadline midday 15 August 2022 - New Post!
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is running a Digital Growth Grant competition and inviting bids to accelerate the growth of tech start-up and scale-up ecosystems across the regions and nations of the UK.
The successful bidder will be awarded up to £12.09 million to be spent over two financial years 2023/24 and 2024/25.
The competition is open to applicants with funding available for activity taking place in the UK. The deadline for applications is midday (12 noon) on Monday 15th August 2022.
The objectives of the Digital Growth Grant will be based around:
- Deliver support services to the digital sector
- Grow regional support networks for tech startups and scaleups
- Ensure founders and firms can access digital entrepreneurship and investment readiness training
- Clearly signpost startups and scaleups to existing initiatives in the private and the public sector across the UK
Applicants will need to download the Invitation to application, and the Grant funding agreement prior to submitting an application. These are available on the Government Website. If you then wish to apply you will also need to download the application and a finance form from the website.
Night Shelter Transformation Fund - Deadline 26th August 2022 - New Post!
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) is providing £10 million over 3 years to support providers of night shelters to transform their services in England. Voluntary and community groups can bid for funding for both capital and revenue activities.
The Night Shelter Transformation Fund will run between 2022-2025 and there will be multiple bidding rounds.
Round 1 opened to applications on 25th July 2022 with a deadline of Friday 26th August 2022. Information on future bidding rounds will be released in due course.
The Fund is designed to help people sleeping rough to receive the support they need and reduce the risk of the most vulnerable in society returning to the streets. It will make annual and multi-year grant funding available to Night Shelter providers to provide a diverse range of quality, dignified provision for individuals experiencing rough sleeping, offering more sustainable routes off the streets. This will include both:
- Enhancing or developing single room accommodation for people experiencing rough sleeping, and
- Developing non-residential support for rough sleepers where applicants can demonstrate a specific need and targeted solution that enhances local areas' support and reduces the number of people experiencing rough sleeping.
In order to apply, organisations must be a small to medium sized organisation (up to £5 million annual turnover), that currently works directly with people experiencing rough sleeping in a Night Shelter setting or provided a Night Shelter on or after 2019/20.
Organisations with a higher turnover may apply in very specific circumstances, such as evidencing being the only emergency provider over winter in a particular area. If this is the case, please contact DLUHC directly for advice before submitting an application.

Green Deal Heat Network Fund - Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy - Deadline 26th August 2022 - New Post!
The Green Heat Network Fund is a 3-year £288 million capital grand fund that will support:
- The commercialisation and construction of new low and zero carbon heat networks (including the supply of cooling).
- The retrofitting and expansion of existing heat networks.
The Green Heat Network Fund is open to organisations in the public, private and third sectors in England. Individuals, households and sole traders cannot apply.
The main scheme second round is now open to applications and closes on 26 August 2022.
This will be followed by quarterly rounds until the scheme closes in 2025.
For off-gas, grid rural heat networks applying to the fund, a minimum of 100 dwellings connected to the network is proposed within a minimum 5-year window from the date that heat is forecast to be first supplied to customers.

Tarka Country Trust - Deadline 31st August 2022 - New Post!
The Tarka Country Trust are pleased to launch the Biodiversity Awards for this year.
The Awards are for individuals and community groups to carry out projects to help local wildlife. Each award comes as a package, which could include a grant of £500, £1,000 or 100 primrose plants.
The awards cover two themes:
- Addressing the loss of localised biodiversity
- Reversing the decline of Devon’s primroses
The Trust would be pleased to receive applications from
- owners of land, which is of poor value in terms of biodiversity which would benefit from improvement.
- groups working together to improve biodiversity within the local area.
- individuals who want to improve the quantity and diversity of local wildlife
Previous applicants have been farmers, community groups, schools and individuals. Applications need to be from north Devon (Torridge and North Devon Districts) and need to be submitted by 31/08/2022.

Sea-Changers - Deadline 18th September 2022 - New Post!
Sea-Changers is a UK marine conservation charity that gives grants to UK marine charities and non-profit organisations for conservation and research projects.
The grant schemes currently available are:
- Main Grants - grants of between £500 and £2,500 are offered through two rounds a year with deadlines on 31 March and 30 September.
- Small Grants - apply at any time for grants up to £500.
- Tackling Ocean Plastics Fund - apply through the Main Grants or Small Grants for projects tackling the issue of marine plastic pollution.
- Innovation Fund 2022 - a total budget of £30,000 will support a small number of projects with new and experimental solutions to marine conservation challenges. Apply by 18 September 2022.
Applications are accepted from UK-based charities and not-for-profit organisations (including schools) carrying out marine conservation related activities.

Thomas Wall Trust - Deadline 19th September 2022 - New Post!
Registered charities can apply to the Thomas Wall Trust for grants towards projects or running costs of activities that support people with skills ready for employment.
The trust provides grants up to £5,000 towards specific projects or core activities that support critical communication skills that are likely to assist employment prospects. The trust recognises that the future of the labour market will become increasingly competitive, with employers placing greater emphasis on transferable skills.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be a UK charity that has been registered with the Charity Commission for at least three years.
- have an annual turnover of between £10,000 and £500,000.
The funding will support a project or running costs for a charity that equips disadvantaged people (aged 18 and over) with the communication skills ready for employment.
Priority will be given to:
- Match funded projects
- Charities that can provide compelling evidence of impact
- Charities working with collaborative networks
- Self-sustainable projects, with a view to becoming less reliant on grants in the future
Proposals are particularly welcome which target people experiencing multiple deprivation or other groups demonstrably facing major hurdles to employment, such as women, people with physical, mental, or learning disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers.

D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust - Deadline 11th October 2022 - New Post!
The D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust funds United Kingdom Registered Charities operating in the UK in the fields of the advancement of the arts, health and medical welfare and environmental protection or improvement. The Trustees will consider applications for core costs or projects.
For details of the specific areas of interest and priorities for support please refer to their Downloadable Guidelines
The Trustees usually consider applications three times a year in March, July and November. The next grant making meeting will be on the 16th November 2022 and the final closing date for the submission of online applications for this meeting is the 11th October 2022.

Armed Forces Covenant Fund: Reaching and Supporting Armed Forces Communities programme - Deadline 14th November 2022 - New Post!
Charities and CICs can apply for a grant of up to £100,000 over a period of up to three years.
This programme will fund projects that will deliver significant changes or improvements for Armed Forces communities where there are hidden or compelling needs. They want to hear from those who know the most about what is needed and that's why this year they are running such a broad programme.
If you apply for a grant, you need to show how this would help to address hidden, compelling and complex needs, for specific and identified beneficiaries, in a meaningful way, and where evidence has highlighted gaps in support and provision.
For a decision in February 2023, the deadline for applications is 14 November.

International Tree Foundation UK Community Tree Planting Programme - Deadline 16th December 2022 - New Post!
- Grants and resources are available to support grassroots community projects across the UK that engage local people in tree planting.
- Application submissions anytime from 1 July 2022 until Friday 16 December 2022.
- The International Tree Foundation is currently inviting applications to its 2022 to 2023 UK Community Tree Planting Programme to support grassroots community engagement in tree planting. The Foundation can provide funding and consultation for projects that consist of planting up to 10,000 native UK species of trees on publicly accessible land.
- Priorities for this round of the UK Community Tree Planting Programme are to support community-based tree planting initiatives that meet the following essential criteria:
- Conserve existing ancient trees and indigenous woodlands as well as new planting.
- Create biodiversity habitats.
- Conserve soil and water.
- Demonstrate new approaches such as agroforestry.
- Engage children and young adults in tree planting and learning about trees.
- Engage vulnerable groups and groups with low access to woodlands.
- Support rewilding and natural regeneration.
- Support work or research on tree pest and disease resistance and climate change adaptation.
- Support urban tree planting.
- Community based organisations, such as a locally focused registered charity, a community group or a school with a bank account in their name and signed permission from the owner of manager of the land indicating that the project meets all legal requirements, may apply for either of the following two grant strands:
- Small Scale: a maximum of £1,000 is available for projects of up to 1 year in duration. This could be a small community woodland, orchards, hedging projects etc.
- Large Scale: projects to range from 1,000 to 10,000 trees, (with a maximum price equivalent to £1.50 per tree (inclusive of tree protection)). Most suitable for community woodland or hedging projects.

Magic Little Grants 2022 - Deadline End 2022 - New Post!
Magic Little Grants 2022 has now launched, with applications taking just 10 minutes to fill out and submit!
After successfully distributing 2,000 grants to Localgiving members last year, making it their biggest ever Magic Little Grants programme.
Grants of £500 will be awarded to 2,650 charitable organisations on Localgiving.
The 6 funding trusts from the People's Postcode Lottery who will be collaborating to help administer the biggest ever Magic Little Grants programme are:
- Postcode Community Trust
- Postcode Local Trust
- Postcode Neighbourhood Trust
- Postcode Places Trust
- People's Postcode Trust
- Postcode Society Trust
This year more organisations than we ever will be funded and the funding will be spread out everywhere across the country.
Last year the eligibility criteria was expanded which will remain this year. In previous years, funding had to go towards projects that were delivering sports or physical activities.
This year funding can go towards any of the following projects:
- Improving Mental wellbeing
- Enabling community participation in the arts
- Preventing or reducing the impact of poverty
- Supporting marginalised groups and promoting equality
- Improving biodiversity and green spaces
- Enabling participation in physical activity
- Responding to the climate emergency and promoting sustainability
- Increasing community access to outdoor space.
Organisations must either be in their first year of operation or have an annual income of under £250,000. Funding can be used to launch new projects, support existing ones, or cover costs associated with ongoing work.
Please note schools are eligible to apply if they are a registered charity.
You will need to be registered with Localgiving to be able to apply. If you are newly registered, to apply for a grant, and your application is successful alongside the £500 grant you will also be awarded a year of free membership. Thrive with Five – Mobilise - Deadline 27th February 2023 - New Post!
The purpose of the fund is to support community organisations to alleviate mobility in relation to disability or ill-health. It aims to help people overcome or relieve mobility limitations, such as contributing towards the cost of equipment that significantly improves the quality of individuals' lives.
Examples of activities Mobilise grants could support include:
- Help providing specialised transport needs, such as accessible coaches or taxis.
- Costs of providing specialist equipment, such as hoists, all terrain mobility aids etc.
- Local initiatives which seek to increase inclusion of individuals impacted by mobility limitations, and enable them to get more involved
- Activities which seek to address the mental wellbeing of those affected by mobility limitations and as such offer a significant improvement to the quality of individuals' lives.
Please note, the deadline for applications is 12 noon, on 27 February 2023, although they will be making decisions regularly up to that date (see the full guidance for details).

Community Transport Grants - Motability - Deadline March 2025 - New Post!
Through this new grant programme Motability aim to help charities and organisations to make an immediate impact for disabled people, by awarding funding to develop, expand and improve community transport options.
The programme is focussed on:
- Funding support for staff or volunteer training and costs.
- Funding to increase the number of vehicles available in the community to help organisations support disabled people.
- Funding local, regional, or national initiatives to increase awareness of community transport and influence its inclusion in transport strategy and policy.
- Funding to schemes, programmes and initiatives that already exist, and who provide best practice solutions, but need further support to remain operational or scale up the service they can provide to help more disabled people.
Charities and organisations working in the community transport sector can apply for grants from £100,000 to £4 million at any point over the next three years until March 2025.

Next Energy Group – Community Impact Grants - New Post!
Grants up to £1,000 are available to registered charities and community groups in the South West of England for projects that improve the local environment, improve the sustainability of the local built environment, and create/improve local amenities and infrastructure.
Next Energy Group has a total grant pot of £11,040 which will be used to support local community projects around 6 of its solar farms in South West of England.

Project proposals should achieve one or more of the following
- Increase Community Involvement
- Protect and Improve the Local Environment
- Improve Sustainability of the Local Built Environment
- Create and Improve Local Amenities, and/or
- Create and Improve Local Infrastructure.
In order to apply, eligible organisations are required to register with BizGive in the first instance.
Square One: North Devon Business Start-up Bursary - New Post!
A new, fully-funded bursary for people who face barriers to starting a business has been launched across North Devon.
Square One is an initiative funded and run by coworking and small business experts, Town Square Spaces Ltd, which also operates the Node Cowork business hub, on Roundswell, where the support will be based.
The support package contains everything an individual needs to start and grow a business, including full-time desk space with high-speed internet access for three months, one-to-one business support, bi-weekly check-in and goal setting sessions, enrolment into the expert-led Startup Club programme and access to networking and special events.
To be eligible, individuals need to be either pre-start or within their first two years of trading, be within a short commute of Node in Barnstaple and they must feel they face a barrier to starting their business. For further details visit the Devon County Council website
Versus Arthritis: Together Fund - New Post!
Grants up to £5,000 are available for local community groups and organisations to support activities that increase the availability of exercise opportunities for people with Musculo-skeletal conditions, including arthritis.
Applicant organisations must be based in England, and be working with people with MSK conditions like arthritis. Applications will be accepted from the following organisations:
- A not-for-profit voluntary or community club or organisation
- A registered charity
- A not-for-profit company or community interest company or other social enterprise
- A statutory body
Grants are intended for projects which will help the fund achieve the following outcomes:
- People living with MSK conditions to maintain or increase levels of fitness
- People living with MSK conditions keeping physically well and therefore reducing the likelihood of other illnesses
- Improvements in people's mental health and overall wellbeing
- Reduction in social isolation, enabling connectivity with others through exercising together, eg online group class or a Personal Trainer/Personal Assistant supporting with 1:1 exercise
- Opportunity to try new forms of exercise
- Creating opportunities to exercise for people who have not participated before
- Some community groups and sports providers to be given a 'new lease of life' and potentially enable them to benefit from new ways of providing support or a service.

Transforming Places through Heritage - New Post!
This programme supports projects that will contribute to the transformation of high streets and town centres in England helping them become thriving places, strengthening local communities and encouraging local economies to prosper. It is part of a wider initiative to revive heritage high streets in England, alongside Historic England’s High Streets Heritage Action Zones. Together, these programmes form part of the Future High Streets Fund, administered by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Our programme is for individual heritage buildings in, or transferring to, community ownership. We will support charities and social enterprises to develop projects with the potential to bring new life to high streets by creating alternative uses for redundant or underused historic buildings in town centres.
The AHF can provide grants to help with assessing the viability of a project, or to help fund development costs or to match funds raised through Crowdfunding and Community Shares.

Youth Music Trailblazer Fund - New Post!
Youth Music is a charitable funder that gives grants to other organisations - small charities, arts venues, music businesses, youth clubs, music education hubs, housing associations, nurseries and more - to run music making projects or create career progression opportunities in music.
Youth Music funding is made available through a grants applications process, with several funding rounds each year. Applications for Round 2 of this fund will be open later this month.
The Trailblazer fund offers grants of £2,000 to £30,000 to organisations in England to run projects for children and young people (25 or under) to make, learn and earn in music. The project should trial work for the first time, test a new way or working, or disrupt the status quo (or all three!).
Your work must meet one of the themes:
- Early years
- Disabled, d/Deaf and neurodivergent young people
- Youth justice system
- Young people facing barriers
- Young adults
- Organisations and the workforce.
Youth Music is supported by the National Lottery via Arts Council England. This enables them to invest in projects all over England.

Closing Opportunities!
Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) - Deadline 8th August 2022
The WCIT Charity works with a wide range of non-profit organisations and aims to help them get the best from IT. It is committed to strengthening communities and using the power of technology for good.
Applications for funding and/or the provision of pro bono IT advice may be submitted throughout the year and are considered by the Charitable Operations Committee at its four meetings each year.
In 2022, the deadlines are January 24, April 25 and August 8.
