NHS
  • As of this this week, our council vehicles will carry special thank you messages for the NHS, key workers and all the fantastic volunteers who have come forward to help during this challenging time. We have also painted colourful rainbow road markings in Long Lane, Grays, outside Thurrock Community Hospital to thank all the NHS staff who are working tirelessly. Further road markings are planned for outside Orsett Hospital. The Thameside Theatre complex is also being lit up blue every Thursday at 8pm as we join a grateful nation and clap for our carers

IT

IT service achievements

Since changes to how #TeamThurrock work and are deliver their services came into effect in March, our IT team has truly gone above and beyond to support colleagues across the council to enable and support so many of us to work effectively during these challenging and new times.

More than 1,700 colleagues are currently logging on to Connected Workspace during the week. An additional 150 colleagues also log on via Always On VPN – a trusted and secure connection over the internet to the Thurrock Network from a Thurrock Laptop.

On average each month the IT service desk receives 2,800 requests for support across a range of IT issues, however over the past month the team have received more than 4,700 requests, nearly twice as many!

Some of the great achievements of our IT services over the past few weeks include:

  • 120 new laptops and 150 new mobile phones rolled out to colleagues across our services since 16 March
  • received more than 840 ‘4ME’ self service portal requests in March – more than double the amount ever received through this channel
  • upgraded 350 mobile phones for members of staff to make sure they have the right tools for the job
  • migrated 1,500 users to the improved Exchange online system part of the Microsoft 365 suite of tools
  • migrated more than 500 users to Intune, the replacement for the old Blackberry service for mobile phones
  • rolled out the Microsoft Teams video conferencing solution for up to 970 colleagues to use, with the ambition to expand this capability further in the future

Every device rolled out and each request received requires time and dedication to understand and resolve, so we hope you’ll join us in thanking our IT services for their amazing hard work so far.
