Work starts to create setting fit for a queen
Work has started in Town Mills Riverside Park in Andover to create a setting fit for royalty, as we prepare for the installation of a new life-size bronze sculpture of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Commissioned by TVBC to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, it is one of two sculptures created by renowned artist, Amy Goodman. The second piece will be installed in Romsey next year.
Remote solar surveys
We commissioned Absolar Solutions to conduct remote solar surveys of premises on the business parks in Test Valley.
If you occupy one of these premises, letters with the results of the survey have been posted out to you.
These surveys reveal:
- The size of system capable of fitting on each roof (in areas subject to suitable radiation and avoiding obstacles, including skylights).
- The potential financial and environment savings such a system could deliver.
- The potential installation cost and return on investment.
If you are the occupier of a premises but do not own the building, you would need to consult your landlord to see if they wish to consider solar PV installation.
Your thrown away batteries and electricals could cause a fire
When we throw hidden or loose batteries in with our general rubbish or recycling, they can get crushed or punctured in the bin lorries, which can cause a dangerous fire.
Earlier this year we had two bin lorry fires in one day.
Our waste collection vehicles cost around £220,000 each and are vital for our front line services.

New marketing company receives grant
The Local Marketing Company, a new business based in Andover, has been awarded a business incentive grant of £750.
Owner Dmitrijs Meiksans is already attracting new business mainly from referrals and word of mouth. His selling point is very much his understanding of how a client business fits into and serves its local community. He also has some clients in Salisbury and is hoping to expand into Winchester.

Due to the bank holiday on Monday (26 August), bin collections will take place one day later than usual in Test Valley next week.
