If you can't afford the food you need, help is available, but you'll usually need a referral to a food bank before using it.
A good place to ask for a referral is your nearest Citizens Advice. You can ask for a referral from an organisation already supporting you - for example, a charity, school or children’s centre.
There are also several community pantries operating in Test Valley. Find out more information here: Food banks and community pantries in Test Valley
If you are able to give help, then there are a few ways you can do so:
Visit Andover Foodbank or Romsey Foodbank online for shopping lists of urgently needed items.
Alternatively, you can donate money via their websites.
Public asked for their feedback on public space designs
Test Valley Borough Council has launched a consultation for feedback on designs that will guide the future redevelopment of Andover town centre, covering everything from street furniture to the use of spaces for events.
The Andover Public Realm Design Guide will help ensure that any development in the town is carried out to a high standard and will be used to determine whether to grant permission for planning applications.
It looks at how people should move through the town, pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, traffic calming measures, event spaces, street furniture, building materials, and the integration of facilities such as electric vehicle charging points.
The design guide is available at www.testvalley.gov.uk/andoverpublicrealmspd and people have until 12 noon on 3 February to submit their feedback.

Where can you recycle your Christmas tree?🎄
The big day hasn't arrived yet, but we're sure some of you will be thinking about what to do with your Christmas tree when it comes to bringing down the decorations.
There are multiple, temporary sites around Test Valley that will be in operation from Wednesday 28 December to Monday 9 January, including Dobbies Garden Centre in Andover and Knightwood Leisure Centre in Valley Park.
If you subscribe to the Garden Waste Collection Service, we can collect you trees, but if it is over 6ft please only cut it in half.
See below for all the sites where your Christmas tree can be recycled👇
There is still a couple of times before Christmas where you can meet Santa himself in Andover. He will be at the Chantry Centre Christmas Grotto on:
- Friday 23 Dec 10am – 1pm & 1:30pm – 4:30pm
- Saturday 24 Dec 11pm – 3pm
Tickets cost £5 per child and can be purchased on the door.
