Tree-mendous work!
Last year, TVBC pledged to plant 10,000 trees to help our environment and create new habitats for the creatures that call Test Valley their home.
But, that target has been smashed, with almost 20,000 trees planted across the borough during the 2021/22 season! The locations of the new trees include Harewood Common, Valley Park Woodlands and Anton Lakes, among many others.
Provided the land can be found, we are aiming to keep up this work, planting 10,000 trees for the next few years.

Fighting fly-tipping
Over the last few weeks, officers at Test Valley Borough Council have seen fly-tippers ordered to pay thousands of pounds in court after successful investigations.
TVBC has a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping, regularly seeing those responsible in the dock. Earlier this month, Wellow man Eddie Hilden was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £800 in costs and victim surcharges after being caught on one of the council's covert cameras when dumping waste in Nursling last summer.
Wayne Dyer, of Southampton, was also ordered to pay more than £2,500 in total after he admitted fly-tipping waste on Packridge Lane, Romsey.
Mooving along to pastures new
The cows are now back at a host of locations for conservation grazing this spring and summer. You can find them at Harewood Common, Wicks Meadow and Mudtown, Anton Lakes.
So please leave the gates as you find them, keep picking up after your dog, and putting any litter in the bins, or take it home with you. It's moo-ch appreciated!

Branching out our urban meadows
We have trebled the number of hectares dedicated to being urban meadows in Test Valley! Last year, we ran a pilot where eight hectares of land weren't kept on the same mowing schedule as other green spaces, leaving wildflowers to grow with the hope of attracting more bees and insects to those areas.
After a successful piloting, and great feedback from residents, we are now dedicating 24 hectares of green space as these urban meadows. This reduces the number of visits for mowing and creates new habitats.

Keep an eye out...
We're getting ready to launch a consultation on one of the most important documents that we produce, every four years.
The Corporate Plan sets out priorities and the council's vision for that period. Keep an eye out in your inbox to find out all about it, and how you can have your say!
