Teignbridge is bursting with exciting activities for families of all ages this half-term! Here’s your go-to guide so you don’t miss a moment of the fun:
🏊 Teignmouth Lido open for Summer
Opening this Saturday (24 May) is the Teignmouth Lido! Our beautiful 25-meter heated outdoor pool is perfect for sunny days. With a variety of swim sessions available, it’s a great way to cool off and have fun.
🎾 The Big Tennis Weekend – Saturday 24 May, from 10.30am
Also taking place this Saturday at Forde Park, Newton Abbot is our day of FREE tennis taster sessions! Whether you're into Cardio Tennis, Walking Tennis, or want to get the kids started, there’s something for everyone. Come and have a go!
🌳 Parks, play, and water fun
Explore our many parks and green spaces - ideal for walks, games, or just soaking up the fresh air. And great news for kids, the water play features at Decoy Country Park (Newton Abbot) and The Den (Teignmouth) are being switched on just in time for the bank holiday!
🐸 Ranger-led nature events
Our countryside rangers have some fantastic events lined up:
Pond dipping event, Wednesday 28 May, 10:30 - midday, FREE
At Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve children aged 7-11 years can spot wildlife such as tadpoles, dragonflies and water beetles. Booking is essential, please email stephen.edwards@teignbridge.gov.uk or call 01626 863980.
Make yourself a walking stick: Saturday 31 May, 11am - 2pm – FREE
At Dawlish Countryside Park, meet near the BBQ tables. No need to book.
Why not craft yourself a walking companion to take on your travels! Have a go on our 'Shave Horse' to shape and smooth, before personalising with a leather oak leaf tag.
📍 Discover Ridgetop Park
 Enjoy FREE events, spectacular views and picturesque walks when you visit Ridgetop Park this half term. Located on the edge of Exeter, this countryside park offers lots to explore, with a rich history dating back to the Stone Age.
Visit the carved sheep Kersey & Serge, learn about the fascinating history of the park, and enjoy some of the finest views of the Exe Estuary and Haldon Ridge from the Sunset and Sunrise seats.
Ridgetop Rambles: Tuesday 27 May, 10am and 2pm, FREE
Enjoy a guided walk and learn about the park’s fascinating history and wildlife. The full tour is expected to take about two hours, but you can stay as long as you wish.
Meeting points: 10am at Trood Lane car park; 2pm at Luxton Road car park. Cool drinks and simple snacks provided.
 Scarecrow Picnic: Thursday 29 May, 12pm - 2pm, FREE
Join the rangers for a scarecrow picnic in Barley Field! Meet Ridgetop Park's new scarecrow, Mr Harley Barley Guard, make yourself a mini scarecrow to take home, and learn about these ancient guardians. Scarecrow fancy dress encouraged, but is optional.
No need to book but please bring your own picnic. Cool drinks provided.
Well-behaved dogs welcome but must be on leads at the Scarecrow Picnic. Parking available at Trood Lane and Luxton Road.
⛳ Tee off at Shaldon Golf course
Enjoy a round of golf at with breathtaking views over Teignmouth and the Teign Estuary. Shaldon Golf course is an 18 hole pitch and putt course suitable for all ages and abilities.
🌧️ Indoor Fun at Our Leisure Centres
