Dawlish Repair Café
The next Dawlish repair Café is tomorrow (Saturday 18 November) from 10am to 1pm, in the Manor House, Old Town St, Dawlish EX7 9AP.
It's an opportunity for people to bring their broken items, bikes, electrical and digital items and equipment, plus clothes along for repair.
Volunteers attending can fix bikes, computers and tablets, and electrical items, plus volunteer with welding skills, and sewing and darning skills too. Refreshments will available too - tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits.
All funds raised through donations for 'fixes' and refreshments will go to the Friends of Dawlish Hospital.
The National Lottery Community Fund – the largest community funder in the UK - has doubled the amount of funding available to grassroots projects, in the biggest change in National Lottery funding for a generation.
The change to National Lottery Awards for All is part of The National Lottery Community Fund’s ambition to strengthen society and improve lives across the UK.
With a new maximum award of £20,000, the funder is doubling the amount groups can apply for as well as doubling the time, to two years, that they can be funded for.

Rail services likely to be cancelled by industrial dispute
ASLEF, the train drivers union, has announced that its members will be on strike on Thursday 7 December.
GWR says that many parts of its network will have no service, and where able to run services, they will start late and finish much earlier than usual. Services on the evening of Wednesday 6 December and the morning of Friday 8 December may also be disrupted so anyone planning to travel should check before doing so at www.gwr.com/check.
Anybody who has already bought a ticket for travel on 7 December will be able to claim a full refund, says GWR.
ASLEF has also announced action short of a strike effective from Friday 1 to Saturday 9 December which may result in short notice alterations and cancellations.

Transition period for XL Bully owners underway
Legislation to ban XL Bully type dogs has come into force and owners who wish to keep their dogs have until 31 January 2024 to apply to an exemption scheme.
After the transition period, owners without a Certificate of Exemption could receive a criminal record and an unlimited fine if they are found to be in possession of an XL Bully type.
During the transition period, owners who no longer wish to keep their dogs and who arrange for a vet to euthanise them, may apply for compensation. Owners and their vets will need to complete a form in order to make a claim
