Green spaces survey

Tell us what you think of our parks and green spaces

With the weather improving and summer beckoning, more of us head outdoors to enjoy our beautiful district.

As you spend time in our wonderful parks and green spaces, please complete this short survey to let the team know what you think of them, the reasons for your visits and how well they are maintained.

Your responses will influence the ongoing maintenance and development work we carry out at our parks and green spaces to make them appeal to as many residents and visitors as possible.

Throughout the summer, as you visit different locations, please complete the survey.

Feedback from last year’s survey is on our website.

Ramblers wellbeing walks. Teignbridge walk this way

Opportunities to exercise and socialise

Encouraging people to get out and about in our wonderful green spaces and enjoy the benefits that physical activity and fresh air can have on our wellbeing has been the focus of Naturally Health May and National Walking Month.

With the sunny weather forecast to continue, why not continue the good habits of May and join one of our regular, volunteer led walks that take place across the district Monday to Saturday and which opportunities to exercise, socialise and enjoy the countryside?

Wellbeing walks are for all ages and abilities and take place in Dawlish (Monday and Wednesday) Ipplepen (alternate Tuesdays), Kingskersell (Wednesday), Newton Abbot (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), Moretonhampstead (Tuesday), and Teignmouth (Tuesday and Wednesday). Walks vary in duration from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes.

Throughout the walks there will be pauses to admire the countryside or grab some refreshments and each walk is graded so you know the level of difficulty and the length of the walk before you set out.

A full timetable is on our website together with contact details of people who will give you more information. In most instances, you can just turn up and join in.

Major tennis court investment

Implementation of the quarter of a million pounds refurbishment of public tennis courts in Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Buckfastleigh is expected to get underway next month.

Teignbridge has teamed up with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to refurbish the courts as part of a national drive to open up the sport, encourage more people to pick up a racquet and be more active.

More than half the budget will come from a nationwide investment by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation and the remainder will come from developer S106 planning contributions to Teignbridge.

Not only will the funding deliver quality, all weather facilities but by improving court access and booking systems, the investment will tackle many of the reasons people give for not taking up the sport as well as making it easier for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds to get involved.

The first courts to be refurbished will be those in Forde Park but having hoped to start this month, work is now expected to get underway on 19 June.
