Funding available to help business reduce their carbon emissions
Applications for Green Business Grants, the first of five projects to be launched with funding from the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), are now open.
Teignbridge businesses keen to play their part in tackling climate change can apply for decarbonisation grants to help them reduce emissions and lower energy costs within their workplaces.
£165,000 has been allocated for this financial year for Green Business Grants as part of the £1.6m UKSPF funding allocated to Teignbridge which runs until March 2025.
Companies can apply for grants ranging from £3,000 – £25,000 to pay for things like LED lighting, low energy heating systems, heat pumps, double/triple glazed windows and doors or thermal insulations.
The Green Business Grants are also available to charities and not for profit organisations.
Applications for grant funding - which will cover 80% of the cost for businesses and 100% for charities and not for profit organisations and be paid in arrears - must be made via our web page teignbridge.gov.uk/greenbusinessgrant.
Businesses looking to deliver on climate goals can find out more on the SME Climate Hub or on the Decarbonise Devon site.

Last chance for people and organisations to comment on Local Plan
A reminder that our seven-week consultation launched last month gives local people a fifth and final chance to comment on the Draft Local Plan which will shape development in the district until 2040.
The consultation runs until midday on Monday 13 March. The Plan and all comments received from residents, businesses, town and parish councils and other organisations will then be passed to the planning inspectorate for review and public examination. Anyone who submits a written objection is entitled to appear before the Inspector at the Local Plan Examination Hearing.
Although we aren't doing community exhibitions, we are keen to talk to local residents about the Plan, especially where development is proposed, to understand any issues or concerns. If you would like someone from the team to come and talk to your town or parish council then please let us know as soon as possible so that we can do our best to accommodate this within the consultation period. Contact localplanreview@teignbridge.gov.uk or 01626 215754
Unlike previous consultations which sought views on alternative options, this consultation is focused on whether the draft plan meets legal requirements, is in line with national policy and whether the council has cooperated with neighbouring authorities and statutory authorities in its preparation.
Consultation documents
Copies of the Draft Local Plan and related documents, including a short ‘Need to Know’ guide, are on our website
In addition to town and parish council offices, paper copies are also available to view in libraries and at Forde House and copies of the documentation can be purchased on request.
How to comment
Please submit responses online using the feedback response form at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/lpconsultation.
Paper copies of the response form are available on request. Email: localplanreview@teignbridge.gov.uk Telephone: 01626 215754

Interest free loans to help spread the cost of home heating
Living without mains gas can be expensive. For those who are buying home heating fuel in bulk, a council-funded loan may be a good solution to spread the cost.
We are working in partnership with social enterprise lender Lendology CIC, to provide 0% interest Bulk Buy Fuel loans to homeowners, social tenants, and private tenants to spread the cost over the winter months.
The loan can be used to buy oil, gas, wood or other bulk-buy fuel sources and is repayable over six to 12 months. Lendology encourages people to save alongside the loan to help pay for the next bulk purchase and to use local bulk buy schemes to save money.
Lendology’s Renewable Energy Loans can also be used to help homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint by moving to more sustainable heating for their homes.
Grants available to support a range of activity

Applications will close on 30 June.
