Green Futures Newton Abbot has formed a partnership with the Council to manage part of an open space at Bradley Barton in Newton Abbot, called Kiln Orchard.
Local Green Futures volunteers will restore the area to become a wildflower meadow as part of its Bradley Bug Recovery Network to help boost pollinator populations in the area.
With the support of the Devon Environment Foundation, Devon Biodiversity Records Centre and Idverde, this will hopefully show how by working together we can all help to improve our local biodiversity.

Celebrate five years
The Friends of Teignmouth Cemetery, a small group of hard-working volunteers, recently celebrated their fifth full year of existence.
The group is steadily working their way across the 12 acre site which includes 49 graves recognised by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Uncovering graves from years of brambles and ivy has been one of the main aims so that they are duly respected and accessible to family, friends and anyone else.
As the old part of the cemetery has gradually and respectfully been cleared it made way for benches to be added, providing a place for people to simply sit and enjoy the tranquillity.
Careful consideration is also being given to preserving the area as an oasis of biodiversity and conserving the wide variety of wildflowers which inhabit the cemetery and yield splashes of seasonal colour. New volunteers are always welcome. The group runs two formal work-sessions a week, Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Volunteers can work as long as suits them any time from 9.30am to 12.30pm
If you would like to become involved please contact the Friends via email, or its Facebook page, or its website.

This year’s annual festival in September was a great success again with walks being led by the local history group, the sea shanties group to name a few. There was also a foraging walk and a beach clean walk. Our Dawlish Wellbeing Walk group also headed off with a group on their usual weekly walk days. Find out more at the group's facebook page

Regular walks take place in Dawlish, Kingskerswell, Kingsteignton, Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, Moretonhampstead and Teignmouth. Our walks are free, with no obligation to attend. Just go along when you want to. Walks often have pauses to take a breather and admire the beauty of our natural environment. Some may stop for a refreshment break during the walk whilst others wait until the end of their walk to enjoy a well-deserved cuppa and a chat. There are three grades of walks to suit beginners and returners. Find out more on our website.

The boat landing zone at the end of Dawlish Warren spit is now closed until 1 April 2023.
This seasonal restriction is in place to reduce disturbance to the thousands of wading birds and wildfowl that call the Exe estuary their home over the Autumn and Winter every year.
The birds (such as Oystercatchers, Bar-tailed Godwits, and Dunlin) feed on the mudflats while the tide is out, but can be very vulnerable to disturbance when they are roosting on the beaches at Dawlish Warren over the high tide.
For this reason we ask people not to land watercraft at any time. In addition a member of the ranger team (the bird warden) may be stationed on the spit when the tide is high to direct visitors to change their walking routes to help protect the birds.
Visitors are reminded that these bird flocks are protected by law and the deliberate disturbance of them is a criminal offence.
We really appreciate the cooperation of everyone who visits Dawlish Warren.
Why not seize the opportunity to win some great prizes, a fruit tree sapling for the adult category, and a book voucher for the U18s category by entering our photography competition.
Please submit your favourite Autumn pics of a Teignbridge Council owned green space tree/s, or a leafy collage for the under 18’s category, by Friday November 25 2022 to greenspaces@teignbridge.gov.uk with 'Green Spaces Autumn Photo Competition' in the subject line. If under 18 please include your name and age.
