Proclamation
In line with the protocol, the local proclamation will be read at Old Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, from 10.00am on Monday 12 September. Invitations to Town and Parish Council representatives are being sent out today.
Depending on the nature, location and tone of any planned events, organisers may wish to consider closing or postponing events, especially on the day of the State Funeral. This decision is at the discretion of organisers. Please refer to the national mourning guidance.
"It is with great sadness that we hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who was much loved and admired across the country and the wider commonwealth for her grace and unfailing kindness to those she met in the course of her public duties.
"The Queen's contribution and dedication in the service of the country throughout her life was and will continue to be an example to us all.
"On behalf of the people of Teignbridge and the District Council I would like to convey our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family at this sad time.
"As a mark of respect, we will be flying our flags at half-mast during this time of mourning.
"There will be books of condolence opened across the District and we will also open a book which will be available at Forde House."
Chair of the Council, Cllr Charles Nuttall
