Tier 2 Grants

Status: Live

The Local Restrictions Support Grants (Open) scheme for businesses severely impacted by the Tier 2 restrictions is now open for applications.

Both rated and non-rated Teignbridge businesses (in any sector) can apply, including businesses that work from home or on a mobile basis. Those who applied for an LRSG or ARG for the November 2020 lockdown are welcome to apply for this scheme too.

Businesses that were required to close during Tier 2 (wet led pubs for example) are not eligible for this scheme, as they can instead apply for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme.

Those businesses who were severely impacted or forced to close during the five days of Tier 3 restrictions will also be issued a grant through this scheme, combined with their Tier 2 payment.

Find out more and apply today.

Gap Grants

Status: Live

The Gap Grant Scheme is a specialist grant scheme designed to assist businesses facing severe financial difficulty due to cash-flow issues.

The scheme is now open for applications. Businesses who meet the below criteria can email us to request an application form.

Businesses must:

  • Employ at least 10 employees on PAYE
  • Be eligible for or already received either a Local Restrictions Support Grant or Additional Restrictions Grant
  • Be able to evidence the business was not in financial distress prior to the COVID-19 outbreak
  • Be able to evidence how much grant funding is required to cover their financial gap between the beginning and end of national/local restrictions
  • Be able to explain why financial support cannot be obtained from an alternative source, like a bank for example

Lockdown 3 Grants

Status: Coming early February 2021

To assist businesses with the new national restrictions that came into force on 5 January 2021, our LRSG (Closed) and ARG schemes will be reopened to new and returning applicants.

Those who previously received an LRSG (Closed) and ARG for the second national lockdown (2 Nov to 5 Dec) will receive an PIN code when the scheme goes live, allowing them to fill in a streamlined application form. New applicants will be able to apply using a conventional application form.

Additional top-up grants for Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Businesses of £4k, £6k and £9k will be combined with the LRSG (Closed) payments. We are also hoping to offer £4k, £6k and £9k grants to ARG applicants, depending on Teignbridge's share of the £594 million discretionary fund the Chancellor announced on 5 Jan.

Lockdown 2 Grants

Grant schemes for the second national lockdown (2 Nov to 5 Dec) are still open for those yet to apply:

  • LRSG (Closed) for rated businesses forced to close
  • ARG for non-rated businesses forced to close and (rated and non-rated) businesses not forced to close, but who were severely impacted by the restrictions

Listening Ear

Have you had to close because of lockdown? Maybe you're having to adapt your business model for what seems like the hundreth time since March? Maybe you're struggling with reduced staff, or trying to run a business while homeschooling?

Running a business is stressful at the best of times. Running a business during a pandemic is even harder. Listening Ear is a new service for Devon businesses that offers people a safe space to chat about those challenges.

We’re not here to offer business advice; we’re here to provide a friendly, impartial listening ear so you can talk about whatever you feel you need to. Our experienced volunteers will provide a supportive ear and will also be able to signpost you to other services if you need them.

Your wellbeing is important to both your health and your work life. Talking to one of our Listening Ear volunteers is a way for you to prioritise your mental wellbeing, especially when you may not feel comfortable talking to your friends and family about things.

If you would like to find out more about talking to our Listening Ear volunteers please visit www.devoncommunities.org.uk/projects/listening-ear, contact info@devoncommunities.org.uk or call 01392 248919.

TDC Budget Survey 2021/2022

Every year we think about how we spend money on the services we offer. To help us, we are asking you to tell us what you think of these budget priorities for 2021/22.

From your council tax bill we keep less than nine pence in the pound. Central Government funding continues to fall and whilst some Government support has been provided to help with the financial challenges of the Covid19 pandemic, we need to explore other options to bridge the funding gap, for example generating more income, making savings, or reducing the services we provide.

Please take the survey - it should take a couple of minutes.
